DEFINITION

Peer teaching method is the technique of teaching material delivered through associates or friends help themselves. Starting from the discussion of the material until the assessment is also made of and by students in the group itself (self-assessment and peer assessment).

PROCEDURES OF PEER TEACHING• The teacher explains the topic, learning objectives, and steps / activities that will be

passed students• Divide students into groups of 4-6 students evenly (each group are good students)• In the his group student learning with other peers in a way that is mutually beneficial

and sharing knowledge, ideas, and experiences of each.• Each group member is required to respond with their own opinions which will be

united in one conclusion.• Each group discussion results in formulating a conclusion on the basis of mutual

agreement.• A few minutes later (about 20 minutes) one member of each group in turn teach the

findings in the presence of other groups.• Each group was asked to provide feedback (feedback, suggestions, opinions, questions,

comments, etc.)• Dissent discussed until the problem is solved• teacher gives conclusions and solving problems, thus understanding every student

uniform.• The assessment is done by teachers during the learning process is underway (especially

in step 3)

GROUP DYNAMICS• The social process by which people interact

face-to-face in groups is called group dynamics.• Group dynamics involves the influence of

personality, power, and behavior on the group process.

• It helps groups to work effectively.

organizational or member interests.

Weaknesses of peer teaching method

• Requires a relatively long time• If students do not have the basic knowladge that are relevant

then this method be comes in effective.• Probability is dominated by students who like to talk smart,or

who wish to assert themselves.• Not all teachers really understand how each student’s work

in a group.• Need to be modified to fit applied to fit applied to elementary

studen teact’s (this teachnique is commonly applied PT)• Requires extra attention striet teacher.
