MS. CATHERINE’S CLASS
Cornell Notes•Great students need a good method to retain information.•Brought to us by a professor of Cornell University, a great way to take notes more effectively. •Today, I will teach you how to use this technique. •This is a technique you can use even in college when you are listening to a professor during their lecture.
Cornell Notes• First, let’s each set up a blank page in
our red reading journals to include each section that is needed.
• Begin by drawing a line across the bottom of the page…Write “Summary”
• Next draw a line parallel to the left margin.
• At top, write “Questions” then to the right, “Notes/Important Information”
Science Text•Beginning on page B38…let’s begin reading out loud and see if we can’t determine what is important enough to include in our Cornell Notes.•Should we include “Main Idea”?•Should all terms or headings be included?•As we get to a new section, should we write a question in the column on the left?•When we get to the bottom section, how should we summarize the page of notes?
