Don't just throw content online and build the community around it. Make your students interact with content in dynamic ways using rich and engaging tools. Digital assignments challenge your approach to student achievement, and afford you the opportunity to rethink what you want your students to learn.

• Decide 'what you want your students to demonstrate'.

• Reshape assignments to allow students to demonstrate learning and achievement.

• Encourage collaboration when appropriate.

• Use existing assessments as a base• Look at the types of questions, as they connect to

'what you want your students to demonstrate'• Change, combine, eliminate questions that don't

relate to the desired end• Rewrite questions to avoid cheating and sharing• Restructure assessments to show mastery learning• Require originality, citations, and creativity
