78% of our children are Maori. All children at Ramanui School have Te

Reo instruction daily. We are funded at Level 3 Immersion

Tikanga Maori is taught at all levels weekly.

All children have the opportunity to participate in Kapa Haka

Te Ao Maori is incorporated into unit studies

Staff are committed to raising their capabilities and knowledge of te reo me ona tikanga and are participating in Cert. of Maori Studies through Te Wananga o Aotearoa

Resource Teacher:Maori on site to advise and guide us

The school culture reflects the values and attitudes that underpin the Home – school relationship.

Schools that are committed to being inclusive enable all parents to be actively involved in decisions affecting their child and respond to parents concerns and questions promptly.

Schools are an integral part of their communities. Schools are involved in community activities and events.

Effective partnerships between parents, whanau, communities and schools lead to improved educational , social, and behavioural outcomes for our children.

Te Pumaomao facilitated by Takawai and Christine Murphy held at Pariroa Pa.

For a significant number this was out of their comfort zone but the feedback was positive and the outcomes around understanding the Treaty in the context of how it impacted on the social and economic development of Maori today was especially empowering.

Principal’s cluster then applied for funding through the Network Learning Cluster to further develop our awareness and understanding of our role in “raising Maori achievement.

•Discussion of MGFs!!! – with staff and BOT and suggestions of “where to next”.

•Readings focussing on pedagogy.
