Cast Net• Flat and circular but large in size• It has string• They have iron load(weight) along their
margin• Thrown in such a manner that it spreads, sinks
in water and capture the fishes• Made from nylon and plastic rope• Size vary upto 4m diametere

Drag Net• Used to harvest large number of fishes• Made from plastic or artificial fibre (rayon)• Lenth of 50m and width 4.5 m• Tied with nylon rope• Pulled with help of rope and slowly slowly most
part of net was pulled out by worker at corner• Plastic drums are used in upper part for
buoyancy and iron load on lower surface

Gill Net• Are vertical pannel of netting normally set in a
straight line• Fish swim into a net passes out only a head
through mesh• When it struggled to free itself, the coil slips
behind the gill cover prevent escape• This net is not visible to fish

Fry Net• Fry net is used to collect fry or fingerlings• Small net of 20-30 cm diameter• Round metal with handle is fitted where net is
in cone shaped

Others Net• Hook net :it is used for recreational
purpose.hook is fitted to long thread and used to harvest single fish. Bait is kept in hook to lure the fish.
• Scoop net: it is used in fish hatchery during artificial breeding of fish. It is alike with fry net but used to caught male and female breeding fish

Care and protection of Nets• Plant and soil debris , weed other aquatic
organisms should be cleaned after each and every use
• Net should be kept in shaded area after proper sanitation
• For disinfection , it should be treated with 1:10 formalin solution
• It should be kept away from rodent and mice• Should be kept in dry and cool temperature at
