Nelson Mandela & Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi

Nelson Mandela & Mohandas Karamchand GandhiBy Alexandra Kron

The Truth & Reconciliation CommissionAccording to Boehmer, this was one of Mandelas most notable achievements. The need to face up to the wrong of the past in order to live in greater harmony in the future.Mandelas government was the one to preside over the creation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in 1996.This commission essentially represented a talking cure through the medium of Christianized public testimony

The Non-cooperation MovementThe Non-cooperation Movement made political independence a widely shared national goal. It radicalized a large number of Indians, drew them into political life, and extended the organizational reach and social basis of the Congress. It also led to a large body of voluntary institutions, greatly expanded civic space, and reduced the moral hold of the colonial state. However, the movement failed in its basic objective of paralysing the colonial state by establishing an alternative on behind its back.

Mandela joins the African National CongressThe ANC was founded in 1912 as a political organization to campaign for native land rights.By the late 1930s, ANC became a non-confrontational political organization where they were mainly focused on petitioning.
