+Tordov Theory Equilibrium: This happens in the beginning of the film

and everything is normal and everyone is content Disequilibrium: At this stage a problem has arisen that

is disrupting the peace Realization: This is when the character realize the

problem and there is chaos. Restored Order: This when the characters are trying to

solve the problem New Equilibrium: This when the problem has been

solved and life is normal again for the characters.

+Levi Strauss Theory

Levi Strauss theory is about binary oppositions he believed film narratives are based around binary oppositions like good vs. evil, weak vs. strong etc. Strauss was a anthologist and ethnologist who came up with binary opposites with Roland Barthes.

+Barthes Codes TheoryBarthes Theory suggests that there are 5 codes that are used in narrative usually at least one of these codes are used in a narrative. These codes describe the meaning of the text to the reader. These codes are: hermeneutic (enigma) code, proairetic (action) code, semantic code, symbolic code, referential code.

The hermeneutic code is when the narrative drops clues to help the audience solve the mystery. Proairetic code is when the narrative include elements of action to create suspense. Semantic code is when the narrative adds additional meanings to things. Symbolic code is when there is an exercise of opposites to show contrast and to create greater meaning. Referential code is when in the narrative there is reference to scientific, cultural knowledge

Propp has a theory about characters that are typically used in nearly all narrative’s. Which is the: hero, villain, dispatcher and donor.
