AuthorTrixie Marie J. Sison earned her master’s degree in Family Life and Child Development from the University of the Philippines in Diliman. She also has doctorate units in Child and Family Studies from Miriam College Graduate School. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Education, cum laude, from Maryknoll College (now Miriam College), where she is currently working as principal. She also worked as academic assistant for Language Arts, academic assistant for Christian Living Education, and Nursery teacher at Miriam College Child Study Center.

Consultant-ReviewerMona R. Alagar holds a master’s degree in Pre-Elementary Education from St. Joseph’s College in Quezon City and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from St. Paul College in Quezon City. Since this is a language book, you are expected not only to say the words that you will meet in this book but also use your new learnings in your everyday life. Just remember to follow your teacher, say the words, and use whatever you have learned in school and at home. Have fun!

TO THE TEACHER

This book was written to teach children how to communicate. The activities and exercises in this book are easy and at the same time challenging. Since this is a language book, you are expected to make sure that after each lesson, the children are expected to use in their daily conversation in class and with their classmates whatever new concept they have learned.

The main goal of this book is to enhance the communication skills of pupils in English. In this regard, two important skills are being developed in this book—listening and speaking skills. Since the children are still at the stage wherein they could not read or some are beginning to read, your role is to help them identify and understand the pictures and words. Thus, explaining concepts or grammar rules should be done in a simple way. More importantly, activities should be experiential. Let the children learn in context. Let the children have fun. Let the children talk.
