Teslas VisionNikola Teslas vision has changed and made the world better forever. Vision has two different but equally valid interpretations, A Vision can be used as in a vision for Society. Tesla wrote frequently in the New York Times whereby he communicated how his inventions and work would impact on society.A Vision can also be a creative process whereby complex entities are visualised in your mind.Tesla had the ability to see completed visions of his finished inventions which were inspired by external stimuli.

ContinueTeslas inventions are so numerous and important to mankind, for that he has been given the title of The man who invented tomorrow. He was a pioneer in electrical science and has patented many inventions including A.C.(Alternate Current), A.C. Induction motors, A.C. dynamos etc.Nikola Tesla worked on many varied projects. Indeed, A scientists scientist.

War of the CurrentsNikola Tesla (AC Current) v/sThomas Edison (DC Current)

How its Begin ?When Nikola Tesla is Studying electrical engineering at the Austrian Polytechnic in Graz.He observed that the energy is wasting inside Generator powered by Direct Current or DC Current, more than its generating. So, he disagree with the idea of DC Current. And, start thinking about another option. And he got his answer, Alternating Current or AC Current.

Tesla meets EdisonNikola Tesla had start working on idea of conquering the AC Current and use it as a power source. He had a tremendous ability to visualise his inventions and the complete working model of his invention including the tiniest details so that when it was manufactured for the first time it worked just as he visualized it.And, this ability helped Tesla many times. Finally, Mr. Tesla was ready with his idea of AC Current. But, No one is believing him.So, In 1884 he decided to move to America and went to New York where he joined Edisons Laboratory.

Tesla represents his Idea to EdisonNikola Tesla start working in laboratory of Mr. Thomas Edison.Where he studied DC Current more closely and observed that the generator running on DC Current is not Suitable for present demand of electricity.Because DC Current is too heavy in voltage and it transmitted only around 1 mile(approx. 805 meter) radius of a Power Plant. After working for 1 year in Edisons lab, he represents his idea in front of Mr. Edison but Mr. Edison refused and said, AC Current is Dangerous and Uncontrollable. But, Mr. Tesla is not agree with him.So, Mr. Edison gave him a challenge to upgrade one of his DC Powered Generator. And Mr. Edison also said, If you got succeed Ill give you $50,000 as a Bonus.

Mr. Edison insults Mr. TeslaMr. Tesla accepted the challenge and upgraded the Generator. And, Came to Edison for his reward of $50,000.Mr. Edison said, It was an American Joke.Mr. Tesla was furious. So, he left the company & become unemployed. After that, Mr. Tesla worked as ditch digger for $2.00 on construction sites.Once in the lunch break, Mr. Tesla was talking to his supervisor about the inefficiency of DC based electrical system. After listening to Mr. Tesla, His Supervisor gave him some Names & their residential addresses who can help him in fulfilling his vision.

The Egg of Columbus In April 1887, Mr. Nikola Tesla was introduced to Alfred S. Brown, director of Western Union and Charles F. Peck, a New York attorney, who were sold on his AC Current System after he demonstrated a device Mr. Tesla constructed known as the Egg of Columbus.

It was used to demonstrate and explain the principles of therotating magnetic fieldmodel and the Induction Motor.

Tesla's Egg of Columbus performed thefeat of Columbus with acopper egg in a rotatingmagnetic field.

ContinueTesla agreed to split his patents on 50-50 basis in exchange for funding.Mr. Brown provided the funding as per his promise.Mr. Tesla started New lab at 89, Liberty Street. And, Mr. Browns company filed for its 1st patent by the end of the month. After a week, Teslas friend Mr. Anthony Szigeti came to New York and joined in Liberty Lab as an Assistant.

Mr. Tesla merges with Westinghouse Electric Co.In May 1888, Mr. Tesla got approval for his idea of New System of Alternate Current Motors and Transformers from American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE) which is today known as Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) at Columbia University in New York.In July 1888, Mr. Tesla meet Mr. George Westinghouse, owner of Westinghouse Electric Co., interested in Mr. Teslas AC Current powered Motor.Mr. Tesla accept the offer of Mr. George but Mr. Tesla said, I want $25,000 cash, $50,000 in notes & a royalty of $2.50 per horsepower for each motor.Mr. George Westinghouse accepted the terms of Mr. Tesla.Mr. Tesla moved to Pittsburgh and stay there for 1 year to finalize the contract with Westinghouse Co.

Edisons Campaign against AC Current (Tesla & Westinghouse Co.)In 1890, Mr. Thomas Edison started the campaign Say No to AC Current. To make it successful Edison and his staff began electrocuting animals with AC Current. This process Termed as Westinghoused and it was used to demonstrate that, AC Current is Dangerous. In August 1890, The state of New York convicted William Kemmler for murder of his mistress and sentenced him to die in the electric chair powered using AC Current. On 6th August 1890, The Execution was a total disaster and because of it Mr. Tesla and Westinghouse suffered a great blow.

Fight for Niagara Falls Mr. Tesla and Westinghouse co. submitted the design for a power station, Which is to be built on Niagara Falls, Ontario in Canada.

Mr. Edison also submitted the designs for it but it got rejected because they all are based on DC Current and the production of electricity is far more less than its demand.

Therefore, the board of directors of Edison Electric Co.(Started by Mr. Edison) decided to remove Mr. Edison from the Company.

And, they also decided to change the name of company from Edison Electric to General Electric.

Who won the war ?Designs submitted by Mr. Tesla for power station of Niagara Falls was Selected. It is just a beginning, In 1896, Mr. Tesla & Westinghouse Co. build that power plant on Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. It was named as Adams Power Station and by building it, Mr. Tesla defeated Mr. Edison in War of the Currents. It is the most precious Moment of his life. For Mr. Thomas Edison, it is a lesson and Bitter Defeat he got in his entire life. But this defeat doesnt stop him, He took it as a Motivation. He spent his whole life inventing new things and patented more than 2000 inventions in his lifetime. It is a Guinness World Record.

Conquering the Niagara FallsNiagara Falls was the first site of Worlds first commercial 3 phase A.C. power plant.

Mr. Tesla visited Adams Power Station with George Westinghouse and Edward Dean Adams (He provided the finance for this project).

And, from this power plant they transmitted the electricity to Buffalo, New York which is 22 miles (approx. 36 km) away.

The Fall of TeslaIn 1890, Because of lack of Highly qualified engineers Westinghouse abandoned the idea of Teslas Induction Motor.Tesla & Westinghouse renegotiate and Tesla agrees to remove the royalties clause from their contract. This was a Sacrifice that would haunt Tesla for rest of his life.(This indicates that, hes suffering from OCD(Obsessive Compulsive Disorder).)His Lifetime dream, the Wardenclyffe Tower wasnt be completed. He died on 7th Jan, 1943 at the age of 86 years in New Yorker Hotel in New York City and when he died he had nothing.

His Famous QuotesWe all make mistakes, and it is better to make them before we begin.

Our Virtues and our failings are inseparable, like force and matter. When they separate, man is no more.

I dont care that they stole my ideaI care that they dont have any of their own.
