One of the major musical institutions is Warner Music Group (WMG). WMG is a global leader in national and international repertoire and home to some of the best-known labels in the recorded music industry including Asylum, Atlantic, Cordless, East West, Elektra, Nonesuch, Reprise, Rhino, Roadrunner, Rykodisc, Sire, Warner Bros., Warner Music Nashville and Word.  In addition to its U.S. labels, WMG operates through numerous affiliates and licensees in more than 50 countries.  Our recorded music business includes their growing artist services business, which offers artist management, merchandising, touring, fan clubs, VIP ticketing, sponsorships and brand endorsements, and numerous third-party solutions that facilitate the sale of music-based content directly to consumers. Their artist services business works with WMG artists as well as artists not otherwise signed to WMG labels. In recent years, they have grown to become the world's third-largest recorded music business and third-largest music publishing business and, during a time of dramatic industry transition, have established themselves as one of the music industry's most successful companies.   

One label that WMG own is Atlantic Records. With a diversity of music of contemporary pop, rock, R&B, and hip-hop aims for many people’s likings and desire and create chart toppers. The company owns some of the most popular artists around today spanning from James Blunt, Flo Rida to Shinedown and Kid Rock.

Sony Music Entertainment

Sony Music Entertainment UK is one of the largest global entertainment and music companies. Composing of the most historic and important recordings, it also offers a wide array of local and international superstars. Sony Music Entertainment is 100% owned by Sony Corporation of America.

Their wide range of artists consist of Will Young, Kings of Leon, The Script, Foo Fighters, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake and Pink

As shown Sony Music Entertainment owns a wide variety of artists and are one of the biggest from all of these world known names.

One label that Sony Music Entertainment own is Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG). It consisted of the BMG Music Publishing company, the world's third largest music publisher and the world's largest independent music publisher before selling over it’s assets to Song Music. Sony Music and BMG remained separate in Japan, although BMG Music Japan was wholly owned by Sony BMG.

Universal Music Group

Universal Music Group (UMG) is the world’s leading music company and is comprised of two core businesses: recorded music and music publishing. The company discovers, develops, markets and distributes recorded music through a network of subsidiaries, joint ventures and licensees in 77 countries, representing 98% of the music market. UMG also sells and distributes music video and DVD products, and licenses recordings, encouraging the legal distribution of music online and over cellular, cable and satellite networks.  UMG includes Universal Music Latin Entertainment, the world’s leading Latin music company.  UMG's music publishing company, Universal Music Publishing Group, is the world's leading publishing business; it owns and acquires rights to musical compositions and licenses them for use in recordings and related uses, such as films and advertisements. UMG also includes Bravado, its merchandising company, and Twenty-First Artists, its full service management division; and Helter Skelter, its live music agency. Universal Music Group International is the division that manages UMG's businesses in countries outside of North America.

The wide array of artists own consists of people and bands such as Bryan Adams, The All American Rejects, Black Eyed Peas, Enrique Iglesias, Rolling Stones, Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga and The Killers.

ECM is a recording label owned by UMG and help unknown artists break into the music industry and maybe go on to sign a further deal with UMG.

EMI Music

EMI is another of the world’s leading music companies as they have some of the world’s greatest artists signed for them. EMI attempts to bring fans and artists together. They do this by driving action and creating value wherever music is experienced. To do this most effectively they believe three business units: New Music, Catalogue and Music Services, can do this.

Some of their artists include like Lily Allen, Katy Perry, 30 Seconds To Mars, Gorillaz, Snoop Dog and Pink Floyd.

Today EMI Music has agreements with hundreds of digital partners to distribute their music across the globe, covering a huge variety of digital music business models and ideas.
