Multimedia - the combined use of several media, as sound and full-motion videoin computerapplications. (www.dictionary.com)
3. Technology Study
The U.S. Department of Education states that all students be technologically literate by the 8th grade.
In 2000 a study by Software and Information Industry Association reviewed 311 research studies on the effectiveness of technology on student achievement
Findings
Revealed positive and consistent patterns when students were engaged in technology rich environments, including significant gains, and achievement in all subject areas.Increased achievement in pre-k to high schoolin regular and special needs students, and improved attitudes toward learning and increased self esteem. 4. Research
16th percentile point general increase by using a whiteboard.
26th percentile point increase by using graphics and visuals.
26th percentile point achievement from using voting systems.
31st percentile point gain by using INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARDS reinforcers.
5. In 2009, the Marzano Research Laboratory conducted a study that involved 85 teachers and 170 classrooms. They found that three features included in the use of interactive whiteboards had a significant relationship with student achievement. (Marzano 2009).
This study also emphasized that this powerful tool, the interactive whiteboard, must be used with good classroom practice. We cannot assume that just by turning it on, student achievement will happen.

Just as the planets revolve around the sun, teachers and students should revolve around technology.
We as educators need to embrace technology and use the tools that students know and excited them to learn.

Maps and Brainstorming- Inspiration, Google Earth, Bubble.us,

Timelines- Xtimeline, Time Glider, Timetoast
Visualized Text- Wordle, Tagxedo, New York Times Visualization Lab
10. Incorporating With Curriculum
Multimedia can be incorporated with any curriculum map.In our elementary schools technology is used as a differentiated tool, used in RTI, and in working to reach all student learning styles.Some examples:
Social Studies- United Streaming: Discovery Learning
Math- ThinkCentral, Math Fact Caf, Multiplication.com
Science- Brain Pop, National Geographic for Kids
Reading-Lexia, Education City
Technology- Learning.com, moodle, MimioConnect
