What is Moodle?Moodle is a Virtual Learning Environment that is used by educators to:1. Put online material for students to access2. Engage students with online learning material 3. Complement traditional classroom learning with
online activities:• Forums• Embedded video• Web 2.0 interactivity
3. Monitor students’ online work and to hold students accountable to the teacher/facilitator/lecturer
4. Get students to increase their Student Learning Time (SLT) by spending time learning online
Why use Moodle?Every educator worth his or her salt should give Moodle a try for these reasons:1. Moodle allows you to extend your classtime to after-
school-hours• Homework can be given and monitored by the
lecturer• Homework, whether done or not done can be
monitored 2. The Web is the natural environment for Generation
Y & Z (the Facebook generation of youth) and is the environment of choice to engage students in
3. With Moodle you can get feedback from students and you can interact with them through comments and opinions.
