Why Moodle?What is Moodle?

Modular Object- Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment

Moodle allows teachers and students to use online assignments, discussion forums, quizzes, surveys, wikis, blogs, workshops, and file repositories together in a shared learning environment.

There are hundreds of ways to set up a “class website”, but this gives CCS a consistent and secure setting-- with lots of features under one roof.

Today’s Goals

Have everyone logged into Moodle and join the BLAST Summer Academy Moodle Course

Log into an existing course you will use with students in 2011-2012, or Request a Course.

Begin to organize one of your 2011-2012 student courses by setting up your topic blocks to your SOLs and Units.

Bring files for your 2011-2012 courses for Day 2 and 3.

The BLAST Summer Academy Course

All of the “handouts” and training materials for this week’s sessions will be on this course, including the schedules for each day.

All participants are in the BLAST Summer Academy course as a “student”. This will let you see some of Moodle from a students

perspective. You won’t be able to edit activities in this course, but you will in

your 2011-2012 student courses.
