The Double (2013)

This opening sequence would be something that we could try and aspire to. It is an independent film and therefore is supposed to be about more than just entertainment. This is similar to our film in that it is a psychological drama/thriller so although the genre is different, they both make you think.

The storyline is also similar as it is about there being two of this man who are both have completely different personalities. This shows that our film can be done and has worked in the past, however this is more of a dark comedy than a drama/thriller.

The beginning of the film shows the man feeling really intimidated by this other man who we later find out is his double. This is similar to our idea as we are trying to portray that this other personality is starting to have the upper hand and take over completely.

Music isnt a vital factor in this opening and this is interesting as it will help us decide what, if any, music we are going to include.

http://fenikssizklaide.lv/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/170.jpgEven though this film is more upbeat than perhaps we are aiming for, the storyline is kind of similar. You end up realising that this man (Brad Pitt) is everything the other man (Edward Norton) ever wanted to be and how he is not real, something you wouldnt expect. This therefore makes you think. If we were to go on and make the rest of the film we could perhaps include a twist like this as I think it makes the film a lot more original.

This is quite full on and in my opinion is more like an action film but it still will help when we decide how to do our titles.

Forrest Gump

http://earnthis.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/forrest-gump-original.jpegThis isnt the genre we are going for but I would like a similar opening with the man on the bench and a slow introduction to it.

I like the title credits in this as they are simple but noticeable and match the music.

Shallow Grave

Just by looking at the opening scene I think this is particularly powerful as it is confusing, the genre isnt apparent but you feel a bit uncomfortable. It begins with dialogue which is something that we would like to do and some of the shorts are a bit distorted and odd.
