MLA format follows the author-page method of in-text citation

What’s required? The author’s name (or title if no author is given).

Page number(s) in parentheses at the end of the sentence.  

Parenthetical(in-text)

Human beings have been described as "symbol-using animals" (Burke 3).

Signal phrase – when you put the author’s name first to introduce the information.

Long Quotations

If a quotation is more than four lines when typed into your paper, begin the quotation double-spaced on a new line that is indented by 2.5cm (1 inch). The quotation should be double-spaced. Do not use quotation marks. Also note that the period is placed before the parenthetical citation For example:
