PROPS

For the single female artist image, I don’t think I would need any props as the original image doesn’t have any, also for the single male artist, as this would look a bit out of place.

However, for the band photo, it would look really effective if I was to have a few instruments in the shot, e.g. guitars and microphones.

MAKE-UP For my female artist, I would like her to have similar make up to the singer she's

imitating (Taylor Momsen), therefore, she needs heavy black eyeliner (top and bottom) with black eye shadow on. For hew lips, neutral lip-gloss or light pink lip-gloss would add to the look, but not make the black colour too much.

For my male artist, I don’t want him to be wearing any make-up, because his hair

highlights the image I want to create from him. For the band photo again, I don’t want the guys to be wearing any make-up, however,

for the lead female singer, I would like her to be wearing light make-up that is visible but not heavy. Again, her hair will act as her make-up, which is why she doesn’t need much makeup for the shot. We discussed having her hair dyed for the photo and she was more than happy to do so.

COSTUMES/CLOTHING

For the female artist, I would like the clothing to be a dark coloured top. It doesn’t matter what bottoms she wears, due to the type of shot I wish to use, you wont really see the bottom half of the model. To finish off the “rocker chick” look, I would preferably like the model to be wearing a light leather jacket and maybe a thin chain around her neck.

For the male artist, I would like him to be wearing a nice band t-shirt or plain black t-shirt with

a few bits of white. Again, due to the angle of the shot and the position of the model, you wont be able to see the top or the trousers he will be wearing. Therefore, I would like to see him in a nice denim jacket to convey the rock type look which can be seen in a lot of rock magazine images.

For the band image, I would like them all to be wearing items for clothing that would unite

them, i.e. matching clothes and styles. Because I plan to have two images of the band, for the first image, I would like their t-shirts to be visible to the camera, so for this image its important to coordinate their t-shirts. Simple merchandise t-shirts would be preferable, any that are mainly black would really set the identity of the band and highlight the target audience, and for the bottoms, casual jeans will do. For the other image, I would like to get a shot of the band with their leather jackets and hoodies on to show a bit of rebellion in their behaviour.

LOCATIONS For the female artist, it doesn’t matter where the location is because I am going to

take out the background when I'm editing the photos and embedding them into the magazine.

For the male artist, the best location would have to be in front of a crème wall, as this

will not wash out the skin colour of my model. For the band pictures, the first image I would like it to be in front of a brick wall or in a

field. However, due to the angle at which I would like to take the image, it would be make sense to have it in front of the brick wall by the college, because then I can get onto the hill and take a high angle shot. For the other image, the same location would be used, just in front of the little grass area instead of the brick wall.
