Present for the first Georgia Town Hall Parents’ Meeting held at PHCS, Ms. Rhee joined parents and community members from around the metro Atlanta area on February 10, 2011, for the discussion. In coordination with the GA Parent Advocacy Network (GPAN), PHCS organized the first Georgia Town Hall Parents’ Meeting with a goal of discussing the future of education within the state. As founder and CEO of national grassroots movement StudentsFirst (www.studentsfirst.org ), Ms. Rhee weighed in on a number of key topics revolving around improving education during the meeting, which ranged from educational choice and equity to high teacher standards and public school systems. SABIS ® VP of US Operations, Mr. George Saad, attended the meeting and commented: "Ms. Rhee represents the collective voice of all those who believe that our children deserve world-class education. We are very encouraged by her work and efforts." Through StudentsFirst, Ms. Rhee works to engage parents, teachers, students, administrators, and citizens throughout the country to channel their energy to produce meaningful results on both the local and national level. Similar to SABIS ® ’s mission to make a difference through education, StudentFirst’s ultimate goal is to transform public education. “As a new charter school in the state, Peachtree Hope recognizes the crucial role it plays in providing Georgia students with a solid academic foundation that drastically improves their future. Having Ms. Rhee conduct the meeting and provide her insight really motivates us to continue our efforts!” commented PHCS Director, Ms. Kendra Shipmon. PHCS opened its doors in the fall of 2010 to 550 students enrolled in kindergarten through Grade 5. The school will expand by one grade level each year until it offers a full K-12 program.
