Dr. Harris initiatives as chancellor enhanced the institution's recognition on the regional, national, and international levels. Under his leadership, IU Kokomo broke records in enrollment and fundraising, and was ranked in U.S. News & World Report for the first time in its history. Michael Harris also obtained the necessary funding to build and renovate campus infrastructure, most notably the Milt and Jean Cole Family Wellness and Fitness Center. Born in South Africa, Dr. Harris earned a bachelor in economics and business administration from Bar Ilan University, and a master of arts in public policy from Tel Aviv University. Michael Harris has a Ph.D., in public policy from Indiana University, where he studied with Noble Prize Laureate in Economics, Elinor Ostrom. Over the course of his career, he has served as a professor and administrator at Eastern Michigan University, Tel Aviv University and other institutions. Before coming to IU Kokomo, he was the provost and vice president for academic affairs and a professor at Kettering University in Michigan.
