EVALUATION QUESTIONS

HOW DOES YOUR PRODUCT USE OR CHALLENGE CONVENTIONS AND

HOW DOES IT REPRESENT SOCIAL GROUPS OR ISSUIES”

In many ways our thriller movie opening challenges conventional thriller codes in that it…

-Does no conform to a typical Hollywood format, the scenery and surroundings are typically New Zealand landscapes and therefore allows the audience to see an environment which questions what they see in films on a day to day basis

Within our film we see a stereotype established. The girl within the water represents the typical beautiful, young stereotype of a teenager. With her white dress representing purity and innocence within the minds of youth.

However, this is challenged when we the situation she is in. This opening challenges the stereotype of young girls whilst also raising issues around the safety of young woman, many woman are targeted due to their sex, this is not a very talked about topic within the film industry due to the fact woman are very much sexualised within films as objects of beauty. Therefore this girl is more than she seems, we wanted to challenge how the audience see her within out film

However still we have raised the question, as to how this apparently pure and young woman came to be here.

This would suggest that purity and people we think are perfect are not always who they seem… Actors within Hollywood are usually

idiolised, however do the public really know them?

Therefore, this links both issue of woman being preyed as woman to how we see the young girl.

Many people are not who they seem.

Therefore, although our thriller uses and changes conventional codes of thriller we have morphed them towards issues in which as a young woman I can relate to.
