Beyonce

Has the star image changed These are images of Beyoncé at different stages in her career, as you can tell there is not much difference, she is still trying to portray the sexy image, and she has successfully done this through her career. This Is contradictory as she is a strong feminist and therefore the fact that she is attracting an audience through the use of her body contradicts the fact that she is a feminist. This shows that her star image has stayed the same but her image and beliefs can be questioned.

Has Beyoncé changed

• It could be argued that Beyoncé is still going for the sexy vibe, and her star image has changed slightly. Behind the image of Beyoncé, she is seen to be a mother figure and a strong believer in feminism. B

Has the music style changed at all

• Beyoncé's music hasn’t changed much but has changed a little bit to fit the needs of the audience.

• She has wide target audience, this is because typically R&B is aimed at the teenage audience, but older men might also watch her videos because of her sexiness.

• Older women might also watch her videos for inspiration as Beyoncé is a feminist and can be seen as a role model

Successful image

• Beyoncé throughout her career has managed to avoid getting caught drinking, smoking and having sex with strangers. Compare Beyoncé to the likes of Justin Bieber and Miley, who both started off the careers as innocent and now have ended up doing drugs and smoking which is a bad image. This doesn't’t mean that Beyoncé hasn’t done any of it. It just shows that she has managed to maintain a good image to young girls throughout her career and therefore she has a successful image, unlike Bieber and Miley.

Keith Negus

• Organic acts are mainly sold on the actual song, a good example of a organic act is Ed Sheeran, this is because he sales are not from his image but from the actual song. Ed Sheeran is well known for his music rather than his image

• Synthetic acts receive money from their image rather than their actual products. Beyoncé is a good example of this. She is more well known for her image rather than her music

Album cover• Most of Beyoncé's

album cover has her image on it, to remind people that it’s her album. Her image is more important than her music. This is a good example to show that she’s a synthetic artist.

Negus- Original vs Synthetic

• The artists do not appear on any of the album covers, suggesting they are organic and want people to value the music.

STAR IMAGE

• Their image has changed little but their music has become more powerful and original.

• Their image has changed via clothing, at the start the wore cheap and relaxed clothing, now its become smarter and more formal

• In their first album their music was inspired by Leonard Cohen, who they were a massive fan of

Will Champion

• The band achieved universal fame in 2000, with the single 'Yellow', followed by the release of their debut single 'Parachutes' that same year. This furthered the bands world wide recognition, as it not only won the mercury prize, but remained in the chart's top ten for 32 weeks.

• In 1999 Coldplay signed with Parlophone on a 5 album contract

• In 1999 Champion was kicked out of the band, and turned to binge drinking. However they re introduced him and ruled that if anyone did hard drugs they'd straight away be fired. Contrasts to many modern bands who conspicuously use drugs

• The band was originally called starfish and started with only Chris and Jonny

Difference • We can clearly see the difference between

Beyoncé and Coldplay. Coldplay haven’t changed their image since they started and they want people to focus on their music. Compare to Coldplay, Beyoncé is more of a image for sexy and strong women.
