Mise En Scene

LocationThe location for this scene is in the Appellation mountains to go to an underground cave at the start of the Film, after they all rappelle down into the the underground cave they venture deeper underground they get into tighter and smaller tunnels they experience troubles with one of the woman getting stuck between the rocks and so Juno goes back and helps her free but just as she becomes unstuck the cave begins to collapse and as Sarah and Juno start their journey through the cave Sarah is stuck under a fallen rock but manager to get to safety away from the fallingDebris with the other woman.

Costume, hair / make upIn the film there are the crawlers and the woman plus the the father and daughter. The crawlersMake up and costume is all prosthetic but the prosthetics aren’t only used on the crawlers but also on the women as there is a scene in the film where one of the women drops from a height and supposedly breaks her leg and when this scene happens to the audience the broken leg with the boneSticking out of the leg after piercing through the skin is made out of silicon which is made up of 2 parts, the first being the fake leg which has been penetrated by the supposed broken bone and the Second being the bone itself but as the leg is supposedly broken they made the leg so that in the filmWhen they try to push the bone back into place blood would continuously gush from the leg and forThis to happen they added a tube into the leg with a pump on the end which when activated wouldMake fake blood come gushing out of the leg to give the impression that the leg is broken when in fact it is all prosthetics.

PropsThroughout the cave scenes all of the woman have their Climbing equipment on their back or they are holdingSome of it In their hands, throughout the movie the womanWill climb up or down rocks to try and escape the crawlers But near the middle of the film they find out that they areNot the founders of the cave and that people have been downThere before, they find this out before because while they areClimbing across and ravine they find a draw still attached toThe rock from the previous climbers. They need as much rope as can get their hands on but they lose some of it when the rocks collapse and have to free climb a little bit. One of the women have pickaxe which is he weapon used to kill one of the other women later on in the film but is also used to killMultiple crawlers.

Lighting and colorWhen the girls are first introduced to the crawlers in the cave they See the first crawler by using night vision on their camera. The girlsHave torches on their helmets but they don’t use that when they are Introduced to the crawlers. The lighting throughout the film Is darkas they are supposedly underground and the only light they would have is from the torches that they have on their helmets.

Movement / activityThe movement both in and out of the cave is limited asThe spaces made are only small as the set was made on partial reality locations and partially set made as they wouldn't’t have ben able to record in the actual cave as it wasn’t safe and they wouldn’t Be able to get the cameras down There.
