• 2.1(Upper 2nd class honours degree or international equivalent)– Including: Civil Engineering or closely related

degrees.

– Excluding: All Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences and most other Engineering subjects

– Other requirements: Applicants need to have studied multiple courses in Structures, Geotechnics and Fluids

• IELTS:– 6.0 (no less than 5.0 in any element)

• TOEFL paper based:– 550 with 4.0 TWE

• TOEFL computer based:– 213 with 4.0 TWE

• TOEFL IBT:– 79 (no less than 17 in any element)

Overview of Master of Science Course

• Full time programme, commencing September every year• Duration: 3 semesters (12 weeks per semester)• Workload: 60 credits per semester (10 credit is equivalent to 3

hours of lectures per week or 100 hours of student work)• Total: 180 credits

– 120 credits of core and optional taught modules– 60 credits major individual research-based project

• Pass mark for a module comprising part of a Masters course is 50%

• Masters awarded if both the taught and research stages are completed successfully
