Interdisciplinary field primarily concerned with the analysis, collection, classification, manipulation, storage, retrieval and dissemination of information (Merriam-Webster) At VU we pay special attention to the latest innovative developments and applications of ICT, related to: Internet, World Wide Web, multimedia, intelligent systems, and electronic business

Understand the complexity of the Web: • E-‐Business Innova.on: how can small companies digi8ze their business
models and take part in business webs? What are successful strategies?
• Knowledge sharing: how can make the Web more intelligent so it becomes easier to share knowledge in large communi8es?
Effec.vely exploit IT for a business which is both profitable and sustainable
• Service oriented design: how to align business processes to informa.on systems? How can I migrate legacy ICT to modern e-‐services? Can a company’s IT be both profitable and environmental-‐friendly?
• SoHware asset management: how much does a company IT porAolio cost? And what is its added-‐value to a successful business?

5 ‘track courses’ = 30 ECTS = 12 compulsory + 18 elective
Research methods = 6 ECTS
Literature Study and Thesis Design = 6 ECTS ECTS Master Project = 18 ECTS
