Go-Center

* Juan Seguin has been a very successful Go-Center

* Students come to the Go-Center for:

-FASFA

-Scholarship applications

-University/College applications

-Tutoring

-Write a resume

-SAT/ACT

-Part-time job search

& other things

Things I've learned as a mentor...

* Be patient

* Don't assume someone already knows the information

* Make sure student understands procedures when filling out FASFA, scholarships, and other forms

* Give the student 100% attention when helping them, they notice when your distracted

* Encourage the students to get all of their paperwork done needed for the universities their attending

*Build a relationship with the students

Working as a team...

* Has been an wonderful experience

* I made new friends that I can depend on

* We learned to communicate with one another on the recent updates or news

* Work as a team when assisting the students that come into the Go-Center

* Help each other when one mentor doesn't know the answer to a question

* We all work together when preparing for an activity or event in order for it to be a success

Benefits of being a mentor...

* Help students make the transition from high school into the university

* Educate students on different options they have for a higher education level

* Encourage students to take advantage of opportunities that are available for them
