FacebookBarebones and posts shared with TwitterPosts comments about past and upcoming concertsLinks to articles about their showsPosts great pictures from recent concerts, this specific one from Massey Hall in February

TwitterAgain very barebones like FacebookSome interaction with fans, definitely not the actual musicians and a social media relations employeeLinks to photos on their Facebook pageComments about band and concert news

Page 8: M6.2 Blue Rodeo, and their lack of social media presence!

YouTubeGreat videos of live and seemingly candid performancesBest use of social mediaVideos from past hits available without dealing with terrible services like VevoAds were not intrusive and didn’t make me wait to watch/listen to a song

Their own website has good info, aesthetically pleasing and allows you to listen to their songsSeems to be their go to place for social media interaction and their main focus

Find Your Audience: Blue Rodeo knows exactly who is coming to their shows, and these people are 40+ years old and don’t care about social media or streaming sites… and it shows. They cater to their audience and do all they need to.

Meaningful Sharable Content:

To Blue Rodeo fans they are posting all they need to. Fans don’t need much and the extra videos on YouTube and the photos of the concerts are perfect added bonuses to the enjoyment of the events

Concerts are extremely entertaining and a light hearted night, remembering the night in pictures is all most blue rodeo fans want

Fan Engagement: Not much is done here on the social media front. They do comment on fans who post on their Twitter but not much. Don’t seem to offer free swag or anything like that. Their YouTube page is fantastic for behind the scenes looks at the band and their songs. Very well made videos that seem out of a professionally done documentary.

IRL Social Push: The band advertises on classic rock radio stations, but again doesn’t really need to hand out flyers or worry about online marketing. They have a fan base and they aren’t trying to get a younger audience. Their emailing list is effective in giving out new tour dates, perhaps more tour advertising could help but they sell out most shows anyways.

The band is all about the concerts and events. They talk to the audience and ensure that the night will be enjoyable. They are clearly an old school band and know their roots. They cater to their famous songs and ensure the audience is singing at the top of their lungs at the end of the concert.

Consistent Audience Engagement:

Blue Rodeo is clearly an older band without much online/social media presence. I have attended concerts of bands that are very social media heavy (Black Keys), and not many concerts can compare to Blue Rodeo. They give you a fantastic night time and time again, and make the older audience remember the times they first heard the music.
