Location Recce – Unit 14: Producing a Print based Media Product

South BankI am going to take the pictures on the week of the 10th - 16th November. I will take them around midday so that the graffitti is visable.

School studioI will take images in the school studio as this will give the images a professional look. I will take these images of the week of 3rd- 9th November. The time I will take these images is between the times of 9am to 3pm.

School fieldThese pictures would be taken within the week of 3rd- 9th November. These would be taken when the weather is dry. The time would be about 3pm.I will use the gym wall as a background to give the urban look.

The shot type would be a mid shot, so that the graffitti behind the subject is visable within the picture. The equipment that I will use is camera and tripod. The lighting would be natural lighting, to make the image more realistic. The costume will be bold and statemental like the subject.

I will try many shot types including extreme closeups as well full body shots. The equipment I will use is a camera, tripod, studio lights and a back drop. The costume would be dark colours in the style of the clothes that the artist wears.

The shot types will mainly be long shots so that the full body will be within the image. The equipment used will be a camera. The lighting will be natural to give the image an urban look too. The costume will be similar to all the other images.

Permission NeededContact needed to be made

I would not need any permission to take images here as this is a public place.

I will contact the head of the photography department to ask permission if I canuse the studio.

I will ask the head teacher for permission to use the field.

Potential Hazards/RisksLocation specificWhy?

As this location is in a public place, there is a risk of public being in the background of the images. To try avoid this we will take images at times when most people in London will be at work.

The potential risks of the school studio would be the risk of fire from the studio lights. Another risk that can be identified from the studio is the cables from the lights across the floor, I will decrease the chance of risk by taping the cables around the edge of the wall.

A potential risk of the school field could be bad weather, this could ruin the image. Or make the field muddy which would not be good for my image. To decrease this risk I will check the field prior to taking the photos and take suitable action if needed.
