Week 1 Wiki Assignment (due Sundays at 11:59pm)

• Go to the class wiki site. Create an account. Your username should be your FSUID (e.g., cy09g); your e-mail should be your [email protected] email address, and please use your real name.

• Navigate to the class directory from the main page of the wiki site and find your name. If it's not there, add it to the page once your account has been approved. Add it in alphabetically. This page will be where you record all of your weekly activity participation activities.

• Create your delicious site (http://www.delicious.com/) and add three sites to delicious on your area of blogging interest. On your wiki page, paste the URL to your delicious account.

• Upload a copy of your project proposal to your wiki page. Write a few sentences on what you chose and any other notes you would like to share for use later.

• Every week when you complete your wiki assignment, add new content to the TOP of your page, so the newest content is on top.

Project Proposal – 5% (50 points). Due Sunday 9/1/13 at 11:59pm via Canvas submission link.

Select and propose a WordPress social media blogging project to be completed over the course of the class. The blog topic can be a hobby, personal interest, or can focus on an area of academic or vocational interest. Research and write a 2-page single spaced project proposal in 12 pt. Arial font which explains the blog topic, audience, purpose, and conduct an environmental scan to learn about your competitors in this blogging environment. The written proposal should be clear, well-written, persuasive, should cite sources using APA format (6th edition), and free from grammar and spelling errors. It should include information that addresses the following questions:

• What is your proposed blog topic?• Who are your target audiences?• What are your key messages?• What are your objectives?• What are examples of blog posts you will do in the future?• Who are two other top blogging competitors in your topic area?• What is an example of one other good blog in your topic area?• How will your blog fit into the existing environment – what niche will it fill, what

needs will it meet, and what will your blog offer readers?• What’s your blog of potential value to your audience?
