College offers us a lot of freedom.

Perhaps too much freedom.

Here are four things that you're probably doing

wrong in college.

1. Not Getting Involved

Many college kids find themselves thinking “Oh, I’ll definitely join that

team/club/group,” then fail to follow through until it’s senior year and

they’ve deemed it to be too late.

It's NEVER too late!Regardless of it you join your freshman year or your senior year, you'll be connecting

yourself with a group of peers who share like-minded ideas and can help set you up for

success in the future, or become your best friends down the line. Getting involved on

campus is important to building a professional AND a social life.

2. Not Taking Advantage

Do you...

1. Go to your professors' office hours?

2. Stay after class to engage with your professors/peers?

3. Utilizing on-campus resources

If you're not doing all of the above, you're not

taking full advantage of what's offered.

3. Staying Put

One of the best ways to ensure the education you're receiving avoids

following a one-track, linear path is by expanding your horizons.

Gaining a real-life experience of how other cultures and other people

learn, engage and grow can lead to greater personal development on

your own behalf.

If you have the opportunity, study abroad.

4. Waiting for it to End

"I can't wait to be done with school..."

Look forward to the future, but make sure you

enjoy college.

"It's going to be so much better once I graduate...""Once I'm out in the real world, life will be so much better..."

Phrases like the above are often thrown around in college as students

long for the post-collegiate future. The real world can be great, but you

only get to experience college once (at least undergrad).
