About The Library:Panchmura Mahavidyalaya is situated at a remote area of West Bengal. It’s far away from cities. Surrounded by natural forest of Sal, Teak. Though, it’s a rural college with B+ and situated at Economically and Educationally backward area, the administration and Library staff are committed to serve the best to be at par with strategically located colleges of town/city. Every attention is made to do learner centric service with human touch to every users.Library is situated at the central place of the college and easily accessible by the students, staff.
Total area of the Library is 130.5 Sq.Mts.It is equipped with Reference books, Text books, Periodicals, e Resources and Newspapers, Publication of the staff etc.There is a Newspaper Zone with fan fitted for comfort reading, a Baggage Counter, Circulation cum Offline OPAC search Section, Reference/Reading Section, E-Resource Access Zone, and an Extended Library for Book Bank, Books Processing, and Archive of old Journals, Magazines, Newspapers, Question Papers.
Six individual reading Carrels are provided for teachers.We follow DDC scheme for classification of Books.Two Fire extinguishers are installed.Inside, a Toilet is available for Reader’s use.Purified chilled potable water machine is just at the step ahead of the entrance gate of the Library.Beside Generator, for uninterrupted service to the users 800VA inverter is installed.

Collection Development is based on the recommendation received from the faculty / Department and students. Books on demand and core collection of resources are given due importance. It’s a continuing process and through out the year.
Faculty are also free to procure up to 05 Library resources at their own .

SERVICES OFFERED:Each and every students is issued a Library Card.
Our college is member of INFLIBNET -NLIST eResources consortium.
Access of e-resources for 6000+ ejournals and 135000+ ebooks from NLIST, INFLIBNET are provided to staff.
Interested students are also encourage to access. They are provided ID and password.
Photocopy service is available on paid basis.
Self serviced Scan of Library Resources is extended to the staff.

SWOTSTRENGTH:Library is situated on a separate building.Sufficient number of Reference and Text books are available.Internet connectivity to all PCs.Discipline students.Dedicated and service oriented professional and staff.WEAKNESS: Need more personals for extension & more satisfactory service.As the collection and technical works spread, area is shorter for library.Library furniture like shelf, rack pigeon hole rack are to purchased.
OPPORTUNITY:Library has every infrastructure to offer Bachelor of Library & Information Science course.It can engage fresher for earn while learn as Apprenticeship Trainee under Apprenticeship act.
THREATS:Students demand growing on Guide books. They try to avoid Reference Books .Lack of training of Library non-professional staff.Difficulties in getting News papers, magazine, Journals etc. as it is very remote place. Inordinate delay in postal service subscription hamper subscription regularity.
FUTURE PLANTo organize UGC sponsored National Seminar.
Launching of CAS (Currant Awareness Service) & SDI ( selective Dissemination of Information).
Inter-Library Loan via membership with British Council Library etc.
Construction of Extension Library building.
Air conditioning of Library Reading area.
