our bib. Records.• To identify some “unusual” call numbers in bib. Records.• To explain why two books on similar subjects are cataloged in different

classifications.• A look at the call numbers of literary works of American individual

authors to see how Cutter numbers are used and assigned.

What this presentation is not:It is not meant to show you how to assign LC call numbers or how to catalog
