CAN L USE ALL THE LIBRARIES? UEL has 2 Library and
Learning Centres at Docklands Stratford
Students and staff can use any of the Libraries to borrow and bring books back
Resources are available in a variety of format – Print and e-books, Print and electronic
journals.
WHAT DO L NEED TO GET INTO THE LIBRARY? Your UEL ID card is your Library card
You need your ID card: To enter any of our libraries To borrow books To print To photocopy (Stratford)
It will cost £12 to replace a lost ID card
Look after your ID card
Do not let anyone use it
You are responsible for everything taken out on your card
You may also need your ID card to exit our Stratford Library
OPENING HOURS The library is open 24 hours
7 days a week during term time
Monday to Friday - the Library is staffed between
9am to 9pm
Saturday and Sunday - the Library is staffed between
12 pm to 5pm. Self Service is available 24
hours Always check the Library
website for updates on opening hours
The Online Library is open 24 hrs daily
HOW MANY ITEMS CAN L BORROW?
Staff and students can borrow up to 15 items. These can be books and audio visual materials
Print journal articles can only be read in the Library and can be photocopied
There are reference resources like dictionaries to be read in the Library
Our PHD thesis, Postgraduate and Undergraduate dissertations can only be borrowed to use in the Library
Digitized thesis are available via our Institutional Repository - ROAR
Our online Library is accessible 24hrs
HOW LONG CAN L KEEP A BOOK FOR? All books can be
borrowed for: One week Short loans Students with known
disability can keep books for two weeks at a time.
NB:You can keep a book as
long as you need to but must bring it back if it is requested by another user
If items are returned late, you will pay the following fines:
One week Loan - £1 per day – Short Loan - 50p per hr
You cannot borrow if your fines get up to £25 .
You will have a seven day grace period to return books and if you still do not return ,you will incur £8 fine per book
What happens if l return items late?
HOW CAN L PAY FINES? Fines can be paid in a number of
ways:
Via Chip and Pin at the Issue Desk Via cash payment at the Issue Desk Via Telephone payment when off
campus with Chip and PIN debit or credit card
Via self service fine payment machine on Campus, using coins
HOW CAN L AVOID PAYING FINES?
The Library will automatically renew your books before the due date. Email will be sent to tell you.
Make sure you check your email
Books will not be renewed automatically:
If the item has been reserved by another user.
In that case, you need to bring the books back
