Adjustment • Children can adjust

quickly, but they need adult support.

• Validate his or her concern.

• Encourage your child to be honest.

• Be positive for your child.


Friends • Teenagers always look forward to meet new friends.

• Older ones are often the first challenge.


Behavior • Students experience a decrease in achievement from middle school to high school.

• Behavior problems, suspensions and expulsions appear to increase significantly early in the ninth grade year.


Grades • One of the biggest concerns is the decline in grades.

• When middle school students take part in a high school transition program with new teachers and several activities, it’s easier for them to get used to the level.


Academic load • Students' greatest concerns revolved around the amount of homework, class difficulty, and organizational issues.


Activities • It’s very important to celebrate activities in which both levels are involved.

• Challenges such as the Intellectual competition and English “Jeopardy” are perfect examples.


Communication • Supportive school environments and transition programs facilitate communication between students, educators and administration.

• Parents should not lose communication with teachers or principal.


Time management

• Time management and organizational skills are everything when you want to get good grades. These are essential elements for success.


Social networks

• My Space, Facebook, and Messenger are just some of the Internet tools students share when they meet new friends.

• Recommendation: keep track.
