COMM LOSS

An Onur Air Airbus A321-200, registration TC-OAI performing flight 8Q-749 from Antalya (Turkey) to Dublin (Ireland), was en-route at FL320 overhead Prague (Czech Republic) when Air Traffic Control lost communication with the aircraft. The airplane continued across Czech and Germany and was about to enter Dutch Airspace 40 minutes later when communication was restored by the crew who explained the loss of communication was due to an error. The airplane continued to Dublin for a safe landing about 2 hours after the communication was lost. The return flight 8Q-750 departed Dublin with a delay of 90 minutes. Netherland's Ministry of Defense reported, that two F-16 fighter aircraft had already been launched to intercept the aircraft at the Dutch border when communication with the aircraft was restored prior to the fighters reaching the flight. The fighters returned to their base at Volkel Air Base (Netherlands). The airplane was without radio contact from Prague to the Dutch border. http://www.PILOTSFLUENCY.com
