And this means knowing yourself …
… because you’re a consumer!
Throughout this course you should try to fit the knowledge of consumer behaviour that you are
learning…
... to the knowledge that you have of yourself as a consumer.
This is called
Chunkingand its a highly effective way to learn
In fact we are going to take consumer behaviour theory and break it up into weekly
chunks.
And each week you are going to add the new chunk to your existing chunks so that by the
end of 13 weeks you’re going to fully understand ...
This !!!
What you won’t need to successfully complete this course
Highlighting
is a waste of time and will give you a false sense that you are actually
learning something when you are not.
Instead
when you are attending lectures write your own examples of how theory is used - association is a powerful learning tool as you will find out it is used a lot in marketing is part of the theory we
will examine in the topic of ‘Consumer Learning’
Even better
write down questions you have about the material - you can ask them during lectures, tutorials, office hours,, amongst your fellow
students, office hours, … whenever.
Besides ...
your text has key points already highlighted in bold and important points are highlighted in the
margins
So why soil a perfectly good text book with marker ink?
Here’s what you do need to be successful in this class -Your fellow classmates
Why ???
Well ... how do you know that you actually know?
(It’s something that has been bothering great thinkers for quite sometime !!!)
For us regular folks it should be enough to say we know something when we are able to
explain what it is we think we know to others
So get together with your classmates and discuss the course material
