DESCRIPTION
The LAUC-LA Committee on Research and Professional Development presented the first installment of a 3-part research educational series. This first session, held in the UCLA College Library Conference Room (Room 228), was an informational session where we discussed LAUC funding opportunities as well as heard from past research grant and mini-grant awardees.

Funding Eligibility
All members of the Librarians Association of the University of California (LAUC) are eligible to apply for funds, including permanent and temporary staff
Please note: Members of the LAUC Research and Professional Development Committee and the LAUC-LA Committee on Research and Professional Development are not eligible to apply for funds for the period of their term of office

LAUC Presentation Grants
Basic requirements same as those for mini-grantsAwarded to fund the cost of presenting completed

LAUC statewide funding priorities: (1) Research Grants, (2) Mini-grants, (3) Presentation Grants
Funds available on July 1 and must be spent by June 30 of following year
LAUC Research Grants • Appropriate research topics – larger scale
o research in library and information science, including dissemination of information
o on advancement in knowledge within the broad definitions of library and information science
o on the profession of librarianshipo on subject specialties for which the applicant is
highly qualified and which would result in the advancement of knowledge in general
• Awards can range from $200 to $14,000

• Accepted through June 5th• Up to $500• Apply by submitting a letter with the following
information:o discussion of the need for researcho description of the nature of work proposedo estimated cost/budget
• Not all proposals can be funded• Previous awardees

• When asking for equipment/software, remember it is owned by University of California
• Feedback by LAUC-LA R&PD and/or Statewide Rep to the LAUC R&PD
• If you are interested in doing a multi-campus LAUC Research Grant, read that section of the Guidelines closely
• The design and methodology should be written clearly
