What Does Reading Class Look Like? ● Students hear a mini-lesson correlating with the unit currently

being studied. ● I model for them what I want them to do.● Students practice the strategy independently or in partners

while reading from an independent book or from our class book.

Q: What am I doing while they are reading?

A: I spend this time gathering precious data on your children's reading habits, strengths, and needs. I use the data I collect to design other units of study and to differentiate instruction so that I can best meet the needs of each child.

Wednesday- Friday: Reading

Conferences

● I meet with individual children or small groups of children to read and discuss the writing project. I give suggestions, but the children are solely responsible for any changes they make (or do not make).

● Because our time is so limited, students can contact me to make an appointment before or after school to have a one on one conference. Students can also email me a rough draft to look over and comment on.
