Horizon Line: a level (horizontal) line where water or land appears to end and sky begins, the furthest distance the eye can see

Foreground: the area of a picture that appears closest to the viewer

Middle ground: the area of the picture that lies between the foreground and the background

Background: the area of the picture that appears farthest from the viewer

Your job, as an artist, is to find a visually appealing way to move the viewer’s eye through each section

of the image while creating a clear focal point where the viewer’s eye should stop moving.
