Notes: Using demonstrations, the students will be able to view accidents happening in a laboratory environment and think about what they can do to correct the video. This strategy will help fill the performance gap and a complete needs analysis may be performed for each individual student to ensure safety within the science laboratory environment.

“Merely having safety equipment in the lab is not enough - people must be trained how and when to use it. It is important to practice using safety equipment so the procedures become second nature” (Marek, 2003, p. 2).

“The speed at which the emergency procedures begin can literally mean the difference between sight and blindness,” (Marek, 2003, p. 2).

If science laboratory safety rules are not visually seen by students, injury may occur when accidents happen.

Carley, (2009).

Notes: Students should be equipped with science safety rules and scenarios and be able to pass a science safety assessment
