SAFETY IN THE SCIENCE LABORATORY

General Guidelines
• Conduct yourself in a responsible manner;
• Read instructions before starting experiments;
• Follow all directions carefully• If you do NOT understand something, just ask!!!
• Don’t touch anything until instructed to do so;
• Perform only those experiments authorized by the instructor;
• Do not eat food,drink beverages or chew gum in the lab;
• Absolutely no horseplay in the lab!
• Keep noise levels down!
• Keep work areas clean and tidy;
• Keep aisles clear;
• Know the locations and operating procedures of all safety equipment
• Safety shower
• Eye wash
• Eyewash station
(2 fire extinguishers: located in main hall and back hall from room 1007)
• Fire extinguisher
• Dispose of all chemical and biological waste properly, according to instructions;
• Clean equipment and work area after use;
• Return all materials to proper location
• Keep hands away from face, eyes and mouth while using chemicals and biological specimens.
• Wash hands thoroughly before leaving lab.
• Goggles must be worn at all times during a lab;
