What is protectionism and mercantilism? Protectionism is the economic policy of restraining

trade between states through methods such as tariffs on imported goods, restrictive quotas, and a variety of other government regulations designed to allow "fair competition" between imports, goods and services produced domestically on their mother country.

Mercantilism was formed by the triangular trade and the slave market. It was formed with the idea to export more than import to increase local wealth. This was also made to get richer the mother country which needed to manage the county manufactures.

King james IJames VI and I (19 June 1566 – 27 March 1625) was King of Scotland as James VI, and King of England and of Ireland as James I. He was the first to call himself King of the Great Britain. He ruled in Scotland as James VI from 24 July 1567 until his death. He ruled in England and Ireland from 24 March 1603 until his death also. From 1603 to 1625 he was the king from all Great Britain. His rule was important because it was the first time England and Scotland had agreed to have the same monarch.

King james I governKing james managed one of the biggest colonies of all

times including in the five continents.

After starting a revolucionary start with the joint stock companies, he made a economic advance for england. British mercantilism meant that the government and the merchants became partners with the goal of increasing political power and private wealth. The goals for England to have a positive balance of trade was by including taxes and tariffs to the merchants and having total control as a mother-country.

Export of raw materials was illegal, only manufactured goods were approved. Over all, however, mercantilist policies had a positive impact on Britain helping turn it into the world's dominant trader, and an international superpower. Inflation started occurring since on a short period exportation was with very high tariffs. For a period the finance center of Europe was great Britain. Mercantilism was created to enrich merchant class, and the kingdom by adding unproportioned taxes his gold was imported from colonies Great Britain managed.

King phillip III governHis idea was to create a monopoly that worked as a much

organized system. He didnt believe in individualism orjoint-stock companies. His way was he managedeverything and he gave orders. He brought rawmaterials from his american colonies and after he created manufactured goods witch after would be usedto sell inside spain. This effect created inflation, it allstayed in the country but inflation was happening. While king phillipp was in the trone, a plague occurredthat killed almost 10 percent of spain populationdamaging its economy and raising up all costs.

Even thought every single sell was prduced inside spain, the manufacture industry inside colonies had a difficult advance towards phillipp III kingdom. Shipsthat came with spain´s treasures that needed to passby the atlantic ocean that had gold, silver and preciousstones where damaged and stole by french and england pirates. This caused war between othercountries which even damaged more the economy. Themonopoly didnt worked as king phillipp planed and didnt worked in a long term estability.

ConsequencesEurope: people where getting richer and richer. Inflation

occured and monarchs started to control everything. Monopolies where active on some colonies and stocks formed a very important part for england

Africa: the triangular trade benefited african monarchsbecause they where receiving manufactures for communityregular people but was damaging the community becauseadvance was getting slower and slower because of thistrade.the would be normally trade for textiles, rum or evenfood.Americas: after the colonization, europe where stealing alltheir good and killing the habitants that lived before there. They brought horses and at the same time infections and diseases incremented.

Effects on today societyMercantilism was a very important step for european

society. It marked today economy uses and techniquesthat are still on the market. Protectionism is like a rule that countries need to follow if they want to have a positive balance or to dont waste raw materialsproduced in the country. Finally, a monopoly is usedactively but in a different way. Countries now normally(except for capitalism), have monopolies but notcontrolled by the government but controlled by richpeople who own banks and the money that movesinside the country.

conclusionTo conclude i could say that i learned alot with this

project and it was a very interesting topic. Theeconomy in europe formed the methods that we stilluse today but roles are different. Each tipe of governing has a different pros and cons but kings can do whatever they want since they form a monarchy.
