Easier than typical bullying Done in cyber space compared to in
person Less chance of getting caught Easier to get someone to tag along More convenient
Often happens at home so the victim feels less safe at home
Bullying can be harsher online because more things can be said
Messages can be sent anonymous so the victim does not know who to trust
Leads to suicide
Only talk to people you know Do not share personal information
online Report all cases to parents, school
officials and law enforcement if needed
Monitor your kids computer use and who they talk to
Currently only Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, New Jersey, Oregon, Missouri, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont have laws against cyber bullyingAs we speak Massachusetts law makers are working on passing legislation that would make cyber bullying a crime in the state
Whether bullying is done in person or online, it will always be a threatThere can be more done to prevent bullying such as school programs that teach kids consequences and harder lawsIn closing I want to leave you with this statistic, 25% of females and 16% of males have been bullied online in 2009.
