Conducted extensive research in the field of school library media and has also authored /coauthored 5 books, 27 journal articles, 4 book chapters, 3 conference papers, 2 reviews, and 1 case study

Served as a case study research evaluator for Library Power- a $45 million dollar initiative funded by DeWitt Wallace-Readers Digest and titled Case Study of School 2: Lincoln, Nebraska (1995 – 1997)

Created a first-rate, authoritative guide for Media Specialists to use in the creation of policies and procedures associated with developing, maintaining, and evaluating a collection in a school setting (The Collection Program In Schools)

Kay Bishop is an award-winning researcher on a wide range of topics relating to the field of School Library Media. Most of her published works focus on youth services in school media centers and public libraries.

Kay Bishop is a well-known advocate for and educator of School Library Media Specialists. Her book titled The Collection Program in Schools: Concepts, Practices, and Information Services is widely used as a textbook in numerous university SLM degree programs.

Kay Bishop is an active member and contributor to the American Library Association, the NCATE, American Association of School Librarians, and the International Association of School Librarianship. She dedicates herself to her career so that others may be inspired by her work.
