Teacher: Hello, boys & girls, and of course our dear guests! THANK YOU FOR COMING TO OUR PARTY! I hope it will be interesting with us today. Most of people love music and singing. That’s why I decided to organize this KARAOKE PARTY for all of us. Do you like music? Do you like to sing? We all appreciate and enjoy listening to our favourite types of music. Often times, music takes us to a different world, where we forget about all our real world problems. We often remember the lyrics to our favourite songs, and we get excited whenever we hear them on the radio or on our mp3 players. Pupil 1: Personally I think that music enriches all our lives, helps us to feel happy, to cope with problems , even helps us to learn a foreign language. Firstly we suggest you to listen to a poem. This poem is meant to be a short rhyming one that talks about what music means to us (in a very general sense). Pupil 2 : It just talks about how music makes us happy and brings us pleasure. We may be having a bad day, but once we begin listening to our favourite songs, it just seems like positivity takes over and that bad day often turns into a good one. KARAOKE PARTY “OUR SCHOOL HAS TALENTS”

Objectives: to rаise pupils’ interest and motivation in learning English through music, songs and poems, to enrich their vocabulary, to develop creativity.

Equipment and decorations: video-background for hosts , karaoke videos, computer, multimedia projector, screen, presentation with the pictures of singers, paper music notes.

Pupil 1 : ( recites the poem )

Music

Music brings joy, to all of our hearts, It's one of those, emotional arts.

Sounds of melodies, that we truly adore,

Brings us pure pleasure, as our spirits do soar.

Music that touches us, we can't help but smile, We're free to choose,

genre or style.

Page 2: Karaoke party

Music clearly, enlightens our days,

Makes us happy, in so many ways.

Pupil 2: Some of us use music to relax and maybe unwind in the evening after a long day. Others may use it to wake up and energize in the morning. I sing along to my favourite songs when doing something. It definitely helps.

Teacher: So let’s start with a brief report on the history of Karaoke.

(Watching video about Karaoke,a pupil commenting)

Pupil 3: Karaoke History – Let’s Find out about the hobby we all know and love!

KARAOKE (noun) Pronounced Ka-re-oke – Japanese, from  kara empty + ōke, short forōkesutora orchestra.

This incredible popular entertainment has been found out about 30 years ago in the city of Kobe, one of the three biggest cities in Kansai(Japan).

However other opinions say it was already known far before, between 1950 and 1960, and that it began with an American TV-show, according to that version TV-spectors sang following a ball jumping above the songtext on their TV-screen.

Appearently it was after that period that the Japanese made the Karaoke entertainment and for the first 20 years it only was there in Japan, later it came all over the world.

Karaoke is a typical way to relax used by the Japanese businessmen, they use it to take away their stress after work. They go to a bar with some colleages to have a drink and enjoy themselves singing to get relaxed.

Teacher: Thank you for so interesting story. WHY DO WE LIKE SINGING? Let's first admit that we all like to sing. We often sing in the on our way somewhere, having a shower and so on, but the sensation that you are singing in a public place, knowing that everybody is watching you is quite different. Karaoke is always an "outcome" in bars, restaurants, hotels , schools and houses. Singing takes your troubles away and is relaxing, that's why so many people get addicted to it.

So LET’S START!

You have a wide choice of songs today. And you are welcome to choose. But firstly meet a jury of our program….

The first category is the songs for children. You will have points for your singing, you can get even more point if you not only sing but also move or dance while singing. After the song you should give a short comment on what is the song about.

Page 3: Karaoke party

“If you’re happy”

“Over the mountains”

“Hello”

Teacher: Thank you to our younger children and thank you to those seniors, who helped them! Now the next part of our party – songs about love.

Pupil 2 : This poem is about music and love. There are so many wonderful romantic love songs out there. This poem represents those love songs and talks about what would life be like if it was a love song.

Love Song

If life was a love song, that would never end,

Dancing eternally, I wish we could spend.

The bliss in my heart, through the touch of your soul,

Making you happy, would be my ultimate goal.

As we'd continue to sway, from side-to-side,

Life would be beautiful, gracefully, we'd glide.

We'd listen closely, to the most lovely tune,

At peace with ourselves, for not ending soon.

But tell me the reason, this life cannot be real, We know, we can do it, we know how we feel.

Our life is a love song, accept and embrace,

Page 4: Karaoke party

Our souls is the music, and our hearts is the place.

Teacher: I know that teenagers like to listen to them and even sing sons about love and friendship. But before starting I’d like to see if you know the singers who sing your favourite songs.

(Teacher shows the presentation with the pictures of singers, whose songs are in the program and pupils guess. Then they choose songs for singing.)
