KANDLA PORT KANDLA, also KANDLA PORT or NEW KANDLA
(GUJARAT) is a seaport in Kutch District of Gujarat statein Western India, near the city of Gandhidham.
Located on the Gulf of Kutch, it is one of major ports onwest coast.
Kandla was constructed in the 1950s as the chief seaportserving western India, after the partition of India fromPakistan left the port of Karachi in Pakistan.
The port of Kandla is located on the Gulf of Kutch onthe north-western coast of India some 256 nauticalmiles southeast of the port of Karachi in Pakistan andover 430 nautical miles north-west of the port ofMumbai.

India’s 12 states are depend on the Kandla portand they exporting and importing by this portonly and Kandla port is permitted by 12 statesInternational Permit craft of India. Because ofthis with compare of last year this year 9% cargoimport is increase.
Kandla port not face any financial and worldrecession effect.
Here liquid charges Is RS.12 per K.G and drycharges is RS.36.80 Which are too lower thanother port because in Other ports these sharesare RS. 35 and RS. 100 Respectively.
After the partition of KarachiKandla growth is 3200% done.
Government of India also provide5800 crore In India’s 11th yearplan.
Kandla port have 10 berths, 6 oil jetties, 1maintenance jetty, 1 dry dock and smalljetties for small vessels, which canaccommodate from large to small vessels.Near all these terminals and jetties thereare storage facilities for cargo fromcontainers to petroleum.
The port is equipped to store and handlebulk quantities of iron ore, coal,containers, fertilizers, oil, granites andgeneral cargo items.

ECONOMY The Port of Kandla Special Economic Zone (KASEZ) was the first
special economic zone to be established in Indian and in Asia. Established in 1965, the port of Kandla SEZ is the is the biggest
multiple-product SEZ in the country. Covering over 310 hectares, the special economic zone is just
nine kms. From the Port of Kandla. Today, the Port of Kandla is India’s hub for exporting grains and
importing oil and one of the highest-earning ports in thecountry.
Major imports entering the port of Kandla are petroleum,chemicals, and iron and steel machinery, but it also handles salt,textiles and grain.
A town has grown up on the port with a school and hotel etc.Kandla is also the first Export Processing Zone in nIndia (1965).
