The type of journalism that I think would be best for the ‘DUBBIN’ magazine would need to appeal to the reader that I am aiming towards. Young people today, in spite of the recession, have a certain disposable income and their preferred music style endorses their identity. Therefore, there is a specific style of language that is synonymous with dubstep that is littered with alliteration e.g. ‘hip hop hits’, ‘goes and gets gritty’.The language used should also be informal and aimed at young people. Like text speak, the language should belong to the readers the magazine is aimed at in order to make it have its own uniqueness – that they are part of an exclusive group.The journalistic style in the contents page should be brief but outline the contents of the magazine in order to draw the reader in. Partly explanatory and partly letting the reader in on a secret e.g. ‘What’s happening and where?’.Any writing or interviews should not be crammed into a small space because this can cause boredom for the reader. Usually, the reader will pick up the magazine from the shelf, go to the contents page briefly, then flick through the magazine perhaps pausing at the large pictures and dazzling headlines. The two page spread is useful in the middle of the magazine as flicking through naturally falls on this oasis of information as a halfway mark to catch their eye. This will carry the main feature relating to the front cover.The journalism should connect to news, events and gossip related to the Dubstep style of music. It is all about news that is related to the artists professional and personal life. Equally, it should be informative regarding forthcoming events from the artists and these should be covered by the magazine. Also, how the reader can get the same style of clothing and accessories as the artists including how they can do this more cheaply and still acquire the same style.
