ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL

• The school building opens at 7:00 a.m. and closes at 7:00 p.m.

•Prior to class, students should just be dropped off in the school’s main entrance.

•Parents and yayas shall not be allowed to enter and loiter the school premises.

• A Fetcher’s Card shall be issued on the first day of classes.  This should be presented to the teacher and/or teacher aide before the child is dismissed.

•Students will be entrusted to the care of our non-academic staff and the guard 15 minutes after dismissal time.

• If you are unable to fetch your child on time, please call us.  The school has designed a scheme to discourage late pick-ups of students.

PARKING

• Vehicles shall only be given a maximum of 30 seconds to load and unload passengers in the loading zone.

• Please park your car appropriately!

•Children in waiting vehicles should be strictly supervised by an accompanying adult at all times.

UNIFORM• Children should come to

school in complete uniform everyday.

• The red JDSC shirt shall be worn as a change-of-clothes

• Both boys and girls must wear rubber shoes everyday.

•Leather shoes, open shoes and slippers shall NOT be ALLOWED.

•Wearing of jewelry is strongly DISCOURAGED.

• IDs should be worn to school daily.

PUNCTUALITY AND ATTENDANCE

• Daily attendance is checked.

• Do not allow your child to miss school except for reasons of illness. In such cases, please present a medical certificate stating that your child is ready to attend class again.

• It is important for children to attend classes on time.

• If a child needs to be dismissed earlier than the scheduled time, the teacher and Administrative Officer should be notified in writing by the parent/guardian.

CANCELLATION OF CLASSES DUE TO

TYPHOON• The John Dewey School

for Children shall follow the announcement of the Department of Education with regard to the cancellation of classes.

•When Typhoon Signal No. 1 is raised over Metro Manila, classes shall be cancelled at the PRESCHOOL level.

Classes in all levels in GRADE SCHOOL are suspended

SICKNESS Your child is too sick to attend

school when he/she is displaying one of the following symptoms:

• Fever • Diarrhea • Vomiting • Undiagnosed rash •

• Headache• Red eyes with discharge • Nose with colored

discharge that requires constant wiping

• Cannot participate in the daily activities of the program

•If your child develops any of these symptoms at school, you will be contacted and asked to pick up your child immediately.

• In cases of emergency or injury, the child will be taken to the Philippine Children’s Medical Hospital (PCMC) and the school shall notify the parents

• If a child needs to take any medication within class hours, an adult from the family or caregiver may be allowed to enter the classroom to administer the needed medication.

•Never put medicine in your child’s bag and/or lunch bag.

SCHOOL LETTERS AND FRIDAY/ REMINDER

FOLDER

• A Friday Folder which contains Teacher’s Notes and/or any letter from the school shall be given to your child every Friday or the last school day of the week.

• Please make it a habit to check this folder regularly for any letters, reminders or school circulars. The school will not be accountable to any incident or consequence should parents fail to take note of this matter.

FIELD TRIPS AND OTHER SCHOOL

ACTIVITIES• Parents shall be notified of

field trips in advance. Their children will only be allowed to join a field trip if the parent or guardian return a fully accomplished parent consent slip or reply slip.

• Parents, guardians or yayas may accompany the child only when requested by the teacher. The accompanying adult shall be informed of any fees that may be charged for the trip.

ADDRESSES • Residential addresses as well

as telephone numbers of students, parents and guardians should be current.

• Please notify the Administrative Officer immediately and in writing of any changes.

TOYS• Except when the teacher has

given prior announcement, do not allow your child to bring toys to school.

• Guns, swords and any other toy of violent nature are not allowed in school at any time.

TOYS

•Game consoles and gadgets such as PSP, iPhone, iPad, tablets, and the like ARE NOT ALLOWED in school

RECESS/LUNCH

• Children are encouraged to bring healthful snacks or lunch every school day or parents may opt to get a food package from the canteen.

•Parents should provide a variety of healthful snack/meals for his/her child.

• Food from fast foods, processed foods and junk foods such as candies, chocolates, chips, biscuits, cupcake, softdrinks, iced tea, tetra packed juices, etc., are not allowed in school at any time.

•Lunchboxes should be labeled with the child’s name.  Labels should be placed inside and outside the lunchbox.

• Parents should inform the child's class adviser as well as the canteen operator for any known food allergies their child might have as well as other conditions that may be triggered by certain food and/or drink.

• Packed merienda and other hot food are available at the JDSC canteen.  Arrangements for students to avail of the service may be made directly with Mrs. Gerwyn Legaspi.

BIRTHDAYS• For those who wish to

celebrate their birthday parties in school, the parents should inform the class teacher at least one (1) week before the date of the celebration.

• The celebration shall not be allowed to disrupt the class activity for the day.

• Parents are requested to prepare only simple and healthful snacks or lunch that the class can enjoy during their break time.

• Fast food meals shall NOT be allowed in school.

• Use only REUSABLE plates and utensils. Foods in styro foam packs, plastic bubble packages, disposable paper plates, plastic tumblers, spoon and forks are NOT be ALLOWED in school.

• Balloons as party favors shall only be allowed to be distributed after the class.

• On this special day, the celebrant may come to school in civilian clothes.

APPOINTMENT WITH FACULTY

• A Parent-Teacher Conference (PTC) is scheduled thrice within the school year. Parents are requested to attend the scheduled PTC’s to discuss about your child’s performance and behavior in school.

• Parents who wish to confer with their child’s teacher other than during the scheduled PTC may do so by making an appointment at least two days before through the Administrative Office

TUITION PAYMENTS

• All payments for tuition should be made to the cashier at the Administrative Office.

• Teachers and teacher aides are not allowed to accept payments for tuition.

Parent Representatives

•Each class shall elect two parent representatives to help teachers coordinate activities
