One of the names that have been in the forefront of creating excellence in technical education is JECRC foundation. JECRC is flamboyantly marching towards its teenage, with colorful dreams to accomplish and many milestones to achieve! The seed sown by Mr. Amit Agarwal & Arpit Agarwal around a decade back has now blossomed into an evergreen tree embracing and nurturing talent through its even faster growing branches. Over the last 11 years, it has emerged as one of the most respected names in higher education in the region, drawing students from all parts of India. JECRC's commitment to high quality, industry recognized delivery of education is proven and its leadership undisputed. JECRC Foundation takes this commitment a step further and a pedestal higher to JECRC University. JECRC University (JU) would be a multi faculty research based university, alongside offering convectional courses in engineering, science, management, law, JU would also offer new age courses in Cognitive, Actuarial Sciences and some Highbred courses, JU would offer industry relevant Diploma to Doctoral Programs, on the same lines JU has recently collaborated with University of Alabama System(UAB), US for Joint Research and Twining programmes.

On 24th January when I was asked to visit the university I was excited .the campus

is well designed in the brick architecture format. The temperature seemed to have a difference of about 2 degree Celsius inside and outside. I was amazed to

see such a beautiful construction without any painting on the walls.

The university left me spell bound when I saw the central library. How can such a big central library exists in any university? A library with journals, magazines, books,

technical as well as non technical was available. The computer monitoring system worked the best . It could detect each and every book .A record of students can be well

confined with this system.

JU has a brilliant housing & other facilities , one of its own in

the state I guess, and I am really excited when the

Situated in a vibrant landscape with an expanse of 32 acre, this technology driven campus, is only about 4 km away from the JECRC campus. Besides its unique exposed brick architecture JU would be a green campus. Apart from all this conventional facilities, JU has planned to setup a International art and cultural center alongside a top line sports complex. JU also has developed an apartment style Housing faculty for the students within the campus. Alma - Connect

A 3- day workshop “ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARENESS PROGRAMME” was conducted in JECRC from 6-8 December 2011. It was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell, a new addition to the college campus, with the motive of developing an insight of entrepreneurship in the young aspirants in the field. With the main aim of creating job creators instead of job seekers entreneurship is increasing its hold in JECRC. The workshop was a first of its king in the college campus. The workshop was graced by a number of dignitaries from as well as outside the country. The first day of the program began with Mr.R.K.Poddar, Director, Mayur Leathers who related the teachings of Bhagwad Gita to Entrepreneurship and Dr.R.S.Prasad, Deputy Director, MSME who shared various schemes of MSME for the young entrepreneurs. .

This was followed by Mr.Naveen Tripathi, Founder and Director, Mercury Design and communication, who spoke on the topic “One Life” straining that this is the only life you have received from the almighty, do best with it. Finally the last day saw Mr.Anshu Gupta of GOONJ-An NGO, Popularly known as the Clothing Man who founded GOONJ with a mission to make clothing a matter of concern. Listed in ‘Forbes’ as one of the India’s most powerful Entrepreneur, made audience rethink about what they are actually doing with their life, their nation The 3-day program came to an end with students interacting with Dr.Ajay Data, CEO, Data Infosys, and Mr.Atul Kapoor, President, TIE – Rajasthan, Mr. Rajesh Mundra, CEO, Truworth. Students discussed their business plan with these business tycoons of Rajasthan and seeked their expert advices on it. The agenda of the Entrepreneurship Awareness Program was to mold the students into aware, responsible and successful citizens and was a highly successful venture.

In addition to this, Ms.Madhumita Haldar, Founder MadRat Games, shared her journey from a creative child of IIT and then an employee in a boring job finally realizing her dream by developing the first Hindi game of India, Aksharit. The creator of the world’s first Indian language game Ms. Madhumita graduated in Computer Science from IIT Bombay and being an artist at heart woked for FX Studio. She infused the students with energy with her success mantra :Do what your heart says and not what others expect from you. The first day ended with fun elements like games and interactive discussions The second saw some international speakers. The day started with discussions focusing on balance sheets, finance and how to protect your intellectual property. Mr. Mohammad Ali Niang, the founding CEO of Malo Traders, a social venture based in Mali, Now Mohamed’s mission is to combat extreme poverty and malnutrition by amplifying the income of smallholder rice farmer while simultaneously providing fortified rice to malnourished consumers at an affordable price. Malo Trader’s first priority is to produce enough fortified rice in its fifth year to meet the annual needs of 280,000 Malians.

It is a pathway to magnetize the alumin‟s of this college and doing each and

every bit to be at hand for them now and always.Some of the very renowned

people like Pranav Gupta, joint CEO at CIIE, IIM AHMEDABAD ,Arun Aravind

Ex-COO, BITS PILANI Alumni Associate, Prajakt Raut ED at the HATCH and

President at Angel Investors Consortium have expressed their heartfelt elation

JECRC’s new camaraderie

December 10,2011 marked one of the greatest dates in the history of JECRC foundation, there couldn’t have been a better ending for the fresh start in 2012. It is a tale of the East joining hands with the West .A decade old JECRC signed MOU with 191 years old University Of Alabama(UA), located in the heart of southern states of USA. The MOU was signed between Dr. Art Dunning from University of Alabama and Mr. Amit Agarwal, Mr. Arpit Agarwal from JECRC Foundation in presence of Dr. Bharat Soni,Dr. Pennington Whiteside,(UA),Dr. Pooran Chand Bansal, Dr S N Gupta (JECRC Foundation) Founded in 1831 as Alabama's first public college, the UA is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and service.UA offers education programs in many disciplines including arts, sciences, business, communication, education, engineering, human environmental sciences, law, nursing and social work.

With more than 58,000 students, the UA is Alabama's largest higher education enterprise it includes three outstanding doctoral research universities: The University of Alabama (UA), The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UA Huntsville). UA has been ranked among the top 50 public universities in U.S by News and World Report’s annual college rankings for more than a decade.UA has a dramatic influence on the economy of Alabama, it makes an economic impact of around US$7 billion (34,300 crores) to the state’s economy each year. It is also the biggest employer in the State.

The MOU will enable a sound interaction between the two universities through exchange of academic staff and researchers; exchange of students; exchange of information, advice and assistance in areas of mutual interest for instance in research, obtaining grants and funding, technology transfer and research commercialization, development of educational and training curricula and programs, and long-range planning for institutional development. It will also enable organization and hosting of joint academic and cultural symposia, conferences, workshops and meetings. JECRC will house the India Secretariat of the University of Alabama. JECRC has found a new companion in the arena of education and the friendship would flourish profoundly in the years to come.

JECRC, with its new goals and achievements, organized a three day International innovation cum technical fest. The event was the first of its kind in Rajasthan and probably India, in an institute which has equipped a strong footing not only in our country but in other countries as well. The event was in collaboration with Microsoft iSpark Centre, Chevrolet and Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Continuing the endeavor to excel and reflect the ideas in students. JECRC iWeekend was an event that introduced the new aspects of the technical world to the emerging students anticipating bright career in this field. It provided a platform to the students to showcase their innovation and further enhance their interest in the “Implementation” part with a potential opportunity to interact with influential personalities. This weekend established a way to interact with the technical world and accelerated the proficiency of students through a series of competitions. As ‘innovation’ has always been the forte of JECRC, the event surely added wings to the underlying yet innovative ideas hidden among the students. This event provided an opportunity to the promising technocrats to share their expertise in the world of methodology and help them take it to a level they had always wanted.

Another addition to the campus of JECRC our very own ROBOLAB established in collaboration with Gridbots Technology (An incubated company of CIIE, IIM-Ahemdabad). Gridbots Technology is a company that is actively working in robotics-artificial Intelligence and Machine Vision. Founded by Mr. Pulkit Gaur it is Currently incubated by IIM Ahmedabad’s business incubator CIIE and funded by the Department of Information Technology – Government of India. With the goal of driving innovation and delivering their best in the society they have collaborated with JECRC to set up a robolab in order to provide a fruitful platform to young innovators to enhance their knowledge in technology and robotics. In robolab students have been divided into groups and currently are being trained in construction of robots. Enjoy what you do is the key of learning which is being implemented here as well. In robolab the students have not only just learnt but also gone beyond their learning in practical implementation. Truly, Robolab has given a platform to young innovators with the zeal to show this world what they can do given a chance to showcase their talent and have surprised not only the teachers but also some of the dignitaries who visited them.

Robolab has taken the education for the participants to a new level. So far armed with a handful of knowledge students have developed models of their robots which also highlight their creativity. The versatile designs of the models are a result of mass participation of the students. With the Robolab and all the other extra-curricular activities ongoing in the campus of the college we are hoping that in the upcoming years we will be having a highly talented students with fresh ideas graduating from our college.

In cooperation with Cranes Software and TI India University

Program, a workshop was conducted in JECRC from 11th to 13th

October 2011 towards fulfilling the goal of providing practical

exposure of modern practices in embedded systems to teachers

and students. The workshop was seen to be a platform for practical

learning along with training and was highly successful.

As per Prof. Reema Agarwal, JECRC, who was the coordinator of

the workshop, there were around 75 participants hailing from

different regions of the country. According to her, such workshops

are very useful for researchers, academicians and industry

professionals to get exposed to current-day industrial practices.

Mr. K. Sheik Abdullah and Mr. Sankaranarayan B, engineers from

Cranes Software International Ltd. were the key speakers in the

workshop.

Mr. Arpit Agarwal, Director, JECRC Foundation, inaugurated the

workshop by stating that the foundation is working in the direction

of educating students technically and also nurturing their talent. He

felt the workshop will give opportunity to industry and academics to

join hands in implementing the programs.

Prof. S. N. Gupta, Principal, JECRC, welcomed the participants

and the speakers. He also expressed gratitude to Dr. C. P.

Ravikumar, Technical Director of TI India University Program, for

providing opportunity to conduct such a fruitful workshop at

JECRC. He further emphasized on the importance of the

embedded systems.

The participants admired the technical sessions and the facilities

provided by the college management. According to Mr Anoop, from

UDML, Jaipur, this workshop will be helpful in teaching

methodology and to develop new projects. Ms. Chitranshi of IITM,

Gwalior, a participant, said that the workshop was very useful for

planning and completing their technical projects and greatly

admired the lectures of speakers.

In the Q & A session of the workshop, both the

speakers answered the queries raised by

participants.

Mr. Shankaranan expressed his gratitude to the

management of the college for providing the facilities

to conduct the workshop successfully. Mr. K. Sheik

Abdullah appreciated the lab facilities of the college.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof.

S. S Shekhawat, Head of the Department, Electronic

and Communication Engineering, JECRC, to the

speakers, guests and participants for making the

workshop a huge success and a fine performance

by the college band KHANAKH.

"A closed mind does nothing right: Hack’a’Holic was formed with the same idea of making theEngineer’s brains work to convert their ideas into reality and that's what the group punch-line says "Decrypting Encrypted Ideas" Hack'a'Holic is the official Network & Cyber Security Group of JECRC which was found in the year 2009 with the aim to spread awareness about Network Security & Cyber Threats among the students & also how to protect users from the same. The focus of the workshop was to enable JECRCians to design future systems and also to teach participants how to protect themselves from the menace of hacking .

It included making them aware of the current shortcomings which give rise to bad security systems. As it is a vast topic, hack'a'holic gave an overview of what constitutes an 'ideal secure system' for better comprehension . Internal working of windows login system were discussed with almost each and every aspect. This enabled students to understand the basics of windows & its internal workings. Windows password cracking session was conducted which enabled an individual to crack window's password if forgotten. Few sessions were based on Windows programming using advanced c language, to show the actual use of c language in real-time. This course equipped students to counter the potential attacks. The agenda also included imparting technical know-how of how to make the Internet transactions safe and secure. The hack'o'holic Ethical Hacking Workshop succeeded in training participants in every domain related to Cyber Security. Development of one's own tools and Scripts were also covered .This would be a founding stone for India to emerge as a Super Power in times to come.

MAAC PHOTOSHOP

There are 3 key secrets to good photography - a Camera, Lightening and Photoshop, Photoshop not only helps you master your images but can make them speak for you ,The Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC), organized a 2-day certified workshop on Adobe Photoshop in December 2011, realizing the same . Headed by Mr. Lakshya Kabra, the workshop was highly interactive and served as a grand learning experience for all the participants. He revealed his competency in Adobe Photoshop and evidently cast light upon various aspects from color correction to image manipulation and beyond. Workshop provided the students of JECRC , the knowledge of various tools of Photoshop and there applications. The workshop also instilled the interest of the attendants in the field of animation and designing through Photoshop, triggering their curiosity in the same and lending them a deeper thought of even choosing it as a career option.

JECRC, welcomed Mr. Deependra Singh Shekhawat (Infosys, Bangalore and a member of the Eucalyptus Community) for an interactive session in the campus. on Cloud Computing. The concept of cloud computing and client server architecture were discussed, The students were struck with awe upon seeing speeds in the excess of 9 MB per second on the cloud server and also the low cost of using it for all of one’s hardware needs. Amazon Web Services was also introduced to the students. Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, AWS Management console was given special focus. The initiatives of Eucalyptus were also discussed with a special attention to Infrastructure as a Service as well as the future of this technology. Several students ideated projects they themselves want to pursue in the upcoming field of cloud computing The workshop proved to be successful in creating awareness and multiplying the interest of students many folds in the upcoming field of Cloud computing

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of JECRC, commonly known as EDC, has been established with the objective of creating, developing and promoting the fortitude for entrepreneurship among the JECRCians. EDC ,aims to build a high-quality ecosystem on campus to support resource-strapped start-up ventures ,to promote entrepreneurial thinking among the JECRCian community and create business leaders in all spheres of life. The vision is to guide the students to take entrepreneurship as a career, as a path to success, and as a journey of wisdom. To guide the students as they take their first tentative steps in this direction, an advisory board has been formed which includes distinguished dignitaries and people of immense knowledge and resources

Under the banner of EDC various activities are being conducted to develop students into more capable, responsible and intellectually sound citizens of India. Amongst these include, a three day Entrepreneurship Awareness Program that was organized from 6th to 8th Dec 2011 and witnessed the footfall of some very prominent entrepreneurs from India and abroad. It was an enlightening experience for students to listen to and interact with people who they look up to. EDC has also pledged to fund and support students to start their own entrepreneurship venture that will not just lead to capital generation for them but also lead to employment for various others thereby considering the common good of all.

Industry Institute Partnership forms an important activity for any academic institute as its stakeholders interact with the real world. Firstly, the students are benefited due to exposure to current industry practices, challenges and needs and update their skills when changes occur in technology, teaching faculty get sensitized to the latest practices leading them to blend practice with usual theoretical teaching methods. The IIPC cell facilitates consultancy, sponsored R&D projects and industrial and academic trainings in addition to conducting industrial exhibitions and interaction meets. The initial focus of this cell is to closely interact with industries situated in and around Jaipur, Rajasthan State and later expand the efforts to move the partnership and activities across India and Abroad. Industries and Technical Institution have a strong mutuality of interest which forms the basis of a partnership between them. This aims to enable JECRC students and industries in particular to know about the facilities on training, testing and research activities in the college's departments.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell

The Industry-Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) of the college is a dedicated cell to promote the close interaction of industry and various departments of the institute. IIPC cell is responsible for the purposeful industry institution interaction. On successful interaction, Industry may realize that Academia has more to offer by way of solving their short term and long term technical problems, provide a manpower resource pool with good industry orientation and a source for updating the knowledge sets of its personnel. IIPC enables free consultation, diffusion of new technology and technological upgrading. The cell has senior faculty to represent their respective branches as members and a group of senior members from various industrial field as board members to mentor students. The management is vigorously pursuing the interests of this cell which has led to the signing of MOU with companies like SHArP Edge Pvt. Ltd to give our students hands on industrial experience.

JECRC Foundation stands for the freedom to explore scientific aptitude and for developing a mindset to use the power of science to make a positive contribution to lives. The Foundation's institute for applied sciences, MGIaS, is the first higher education institute recognised as a 'Centre with Potential for Excellence' by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Rajasthan. The institute is affiliated to the University of Rajasthan. Courses offered by MGIaS in Microbiology, Biotechnology and other branches of applied sciences help students to gain in-depth knowledge of the subject, and the real-life applications enhance their employability MGIaS offers 2-year postgraduate courses in various disciplines such as M.sc. Biotechnology, MSc. Microbiology, M.Sc. Pharmaceutical chemistry, Msc. Chemistry. There is an academic cooperation between MGIaS (JECRC Foundation) and Leibniz University Hannover (LUH), Germany. This provides opportunities for the mutual exchange of students and faculty between LUH, Germany and MGIaS.

DST Centre with Potential for Excellence

The institute, because of its interdisciplinary research activities, is being considered as the 'Centre with Potential for Excellence' by Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of Rajasthan. It is for the first time that such recognition is being given by State DST to any educational institute. A three year research project on "Scientific Validation of Ethonomedicinal Plants of Tribal Areas of Rajasthan" has been approved by the expert committee of DST, Government of Rajasthan. The Centre is currently preparing ethanomedicinal herbarium, its scientific validation, a live documentary, marker general and fingerprints; and studying various bio-efficacious aspects including in situ conversation of tribal treasure of Rajasthan.

Research Projects Most of the faculty members at MGIaS, are engaged in active research, evidenced by publications in reputed national and international journals of Life Sciences and Chemical Sciences, every year. Several student research projects have been awarded to the Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology, by the State DST, Government of Rajasthan. All students of the institute carry out one to two months compulsory research project work at campus laboratories. They are guided by expert faculty members in various fields of biotechnology such as plant, animal, environmental, medicinal, algal and microbial biotechnology.

Drug Research lab Therachem Research Medilab (India) Pvt Ltd, Jaipur is a full-service contract-based organisation of the JECRC Foundation that offers quality solutions to support drug discovery, development and large-scale manufacturing. Therachem is headquartered at Birmingham, Alabama, USA and is registered in the name of United Chem Resources, LLC. Every year, around 50 students from Biotechnology, Pharma Chemistry and Chemistry departments of MGIaS are encouraged to carry out research and training work at Therachem.

ZARURAT – The Help Beyond

“The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows” -Sydney J. Harris. ZARURAT came into existence when students of JECRC learned this great saying by heart and valued that keeping their knowledge limited to themselves will make them into a mirror that views one’s self, while if they share their education with a one, who needs it, will turn them into windows, which views the world to the blind. ZARURAT is for the children whose childhood is continually diminishing in the dirt of slum. The noble program being a head fruit of the students proves the kind nurturing and encouragement to think out of the box, that they receive from their Gurus while studying in JECRC. The student body of the initiative have put their sweat and blood in proper structuring, functioning and have made a program that runs within the college premises. Children living in slums around the college are brought in the premises after the college hours and are nurtured and given attention by the student tutors to help them with their studies and overall development.Knowledge when confined to oneself, loses its essence; its meaning. Knowledge and Education are the most powerful tools to bring about the revolutionary changes in the society for change is a must.

Camp succeded to collect an ample amount of blood units for community supply. Further , a promotional visit was organized to the nearby locality to actuate people to donate in their red. It proved to be more than mere a simple blood donation camp but a combination of passion , a perfect coordination, proper conduct and an inherent drive to work for humanity , in JECRCians.

The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. “Aaghaz “,an active social group, introduced in JECRC by its students, is set onto spread the incense of serving humanity with their selfless deeds. This aims to empowers the youth to put forward their efforts for the betterment of the society and aims to channelize useful youthful energy to spread awareness too. Working like an open group, Aaghaz allows students to work their dutiful part through it. Aaghaz has adopted a village ‘Sitapura’ near the college and is working for its welfare which includes upliftment of various sectors like Education, Cleanliness, Medical care, Sanitation, etc. The student members of this organization devote their time to teach the village children. Besides, formal education, the kids are also taught the various acts and aspects of cleanliness, good habits, their rights and duties and a lot more.

Its members also visit various Old-age homes, Orphanages and other similar organizations and try to become the required human aid for the social cause. They allow mass contribution by collecting old used things like clothes, footwear, stationary, etc. and by donating them to the needy. Such efforts, distinguish students of JECRC from the masses and try to bring a positive change to the society we live in .

JECRC is never an inch behind to do anything-constructive social and fruitful .Recently great initiative was put on the front when a blood donation camp was held in the campus itself. As an act of humanity , a large mass comprising of students and faculty voluntarily donated their blood with all the zeal after undergoing a proper medical evaluation and physical examination. The coordinating body toiled hard enough to make sure the proper conduct of the camp. First yearite’s were the most ardent and active assisting in the coordination. They were seen with pleading hands to incite and motivate others for noble cause.

At the outset, please allow me to express my gratitude for

being part of JECRC family. I truly feel privileged. I am

highly impressed with the rapid strides made by this

Institute in such a short duration. It is a matter of great pride

and satisfaction. This sense of achievement has built the

passion and fervor in faculty members at JECRC to excel

and propel their reach exceeding their grasp. I find that

everybody at the Institute is highly passionate about its

growth and nurse latent talents. There is an air of

unprecedented ostentation where future of academic

excellence looks very bright. There is no doubt that JECRC

is striving to be on a revamp path and everyone here is

contributing to its glory. The faculty members, the

supporting staff and Student’s communities at large, have a

grit to pursue and chase all the challenges related to overall

development of the Institute within the stringent time span

.JECRC has conceived a future far more ambitious than the

present where growth is on an expansion spree and getting

larger with every moment. I am not here to build any career

for myself, I have to contribute my knowledge for the

betterment of upcoming engineers, scientist& managers of

JECRC family and also meet the above goals.

2. Sir,becoming a part of engineering institute now,

how do you guage the standards of engineering

institutes in a long time period?

I believe that the teaching associated with research is the

art and science of bringing all the resources together to

bear on individuals, motivating and integrating them into a

new culture. Teaching coupled with research demand

constant knowledge enhancement. My endeavor would

always be to bring metamorphosis through counseling,

mentoring and training where each faculty member will be

inducted into innovative learning .The single rallying point

would be continuous updating. Simultaneously, the efforts

will also be intensified to enhance our skills so as to build

our capabilities to handle all the challenging tasks needed

to make this institute a premier Institute. Let me tell you that

Indian students and Indian institutions are the best in this

world. Most of the students who have gone abroad have

done wonders. I expect, the standards of Indian education

will increase once the competition in education starts, in

fact it has already started. Since education is very cheap in

India, the competition of giving the best education by

institutes will pick up. Today only few institutes have the

best of everything, but with time many more will come up

and the future will be bright for all.

3. What difference do you find

personally and professionally

being first, part of research

and now, an educational

institution?

From day one I was always

fascinated by young persons, I

always think that the next

generation is better than the older

generation.My team at ISRO was

the youngest team, maybe I was

selfish as the young team would

work longer duration, had new

ideas. Coming to educational

institution has made me four

years younger in my thinking;

personally , I am always happy

to and would prefer to work with

fresh engineers from college.

Now I have the privilege to work

with them and tune them for R&D

from the beginning .Worldwide

best R&D is done in colleges &

universities. So I do not find any

change.

4. Sir,hailing from the field

of research,enlighten how

Jecrc helps you? and what

contribution is this institute

making at national and

global level?

There is an increasing

realization that it is high time

we followed the lead and shook

off the old legacies to become

a torch bearer .JECRC has

started with a vision, and I too

have a vision at this time of

taking over the charge of R&D

at this Institute. It would be my

single minded endeavor to

encapsulate these co-created

visions and translate them in to

the work philosophy, ethics,

culture and code of conduct of

this great emerging seat of

learning. We will have eagle‟s

eye that can spot the potential

from a long distance to fulfill

our vision.

5. From student perspective how do you see

Jecrcians’ potential in these research

organizations of India like ISRO,DRDO etc.?

Let me tell you,that JECRC students have the best

potential in engineering, the campus placement

numbers speak for themselves. I had been the

chairman of recruitment committees of ISRO. I was

always looking for the persons who could think a

different way of doing things and had views to

address from basics. If he had that vision I would

take him. As I know rest isro will teach them, nobody

in world will teach space technology, you only have

to build these technologies. I can see most of

JECRC students think in these directions and they

have right mind to be in these institutions.

6. What message would you

like give to our alumni?

Be aggressive in your work and

take the challenges from the

fore front, newer think you

cannot do it, you can do it. You

are the best and from the best

institution called JECRC.

7. Is there anything we have

not talked that you want to

talk about?

I would like to recapitulate the

excerpts from the poem by

Robert Frost:….which had been

my motto and always in my

mind

Hello Everyone! There is no finish line. I firmly believe that everything is possible to achieve in this world through hard-work as well as strong determination. I have secured 99percentile in GATE-2011. To score good marks in an exam, it is very necessary to have clear concepts about every subject, specifically those which are there in Gate exam curriculum. I used to plan out things according to my schedule – I need to devote 3 hours daily to the subjects that I am weak at and revise the ones which I am confident about. When the semester exams neared, I used to just drop all the GATE stuff aside because everyone of us knows about the RTU University and its big blunders. The JECRC, especially the HOD (I.T.) and the I.T. faculty, has also contributed in this process of fruitful results by solving and helping out in the doubts germinating in my mind about the subject. Well for those who aspire for the GATE Exam in the coming years, I would say that brush up the basics of every subject in the initial days and as the days goes by, start a regressive study about them. What is GATE ? Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The objective of GATE is to identify meritorious and motivated candidates for admission to Postgraduate Programs in engineering at national level. Every year one IIT or IISC is selected as the organizing institute Why should we take GATE? To pursue M.Tech /M.E. program in a leading institute of the country. The benefits of M.Tech are: 1. More and better companies are coming for campus placement in leading institutes 2. Higher salaries are offered for M.Tech as compared to B.Tech. 3. M.Tech degree leads to specialization and furthering of interest in a certain area which may lead to

Ph.D. 4. M.Tech degree is a must for those wishing to apply for faculty/research positions in educational

institutes/R&D centers. 5. Scholarship is paid during M.Tech so students can easily afford there need. 6. M.Tech program is a 4 semester(24 months) program; so students get more time to work out

carrier opportunities. 7. To be a part of any national reputed educational institute and enjoy learning and research 8. Some industries and foreign universities have indicated there interest in GATE qualified candidates. 9. GATE qualified candidates in the engineering discipline are also eligible for the award of Junior

Research Fellowship in CSIR laboratories.

Who are eligible to appear for GATE: 1. Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those

who are in the final year of such programmes. 2. Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (Post-B.Sc./Post-Diploma) and

those who are in the final year of such programmes. 3. Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications

or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programmes. 4. Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme

(Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology. 5. Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme or

Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology. 6. Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional

societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institute of Engineers (India); AMICE by Institute of Civil Engineers (India)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

About Results: 1. Qualified candidates in GATE will get All India Rank and percentile score. For example, a percentile

score of 99 means you are in top 1% category of the candidate who appeared for GATE. 2. Candidates who get less than 70 percentile get no score card. 3. GATE score are valid for one year. You may reappear in GATE exam, if you are not satisfied with the

earlier score and the new score (if better than the old one) will be used for admission purpose.

Plan for success at exam: 1. Aim for taking GATE exam varies from candidate to candidate .Students from private engineering

colleges try to get into M.Tech in order to have stamp of the better known institution and for them reasonable percentile should serve the purpose. On the other hand .student studying in well established institute may aim to get into IIT or equivalent institutions. For them very high percentile is essential.

2. Normally 3-4 months of serious study should be sufficient for preparations. 3. Student in final year have to properly schedule there studies as semester exam in winter and other

engagement may absorb lot of time. 4. In the first run study all topics as per syllabus 5. In the revision stage concentrate more on selected topics 6. Try to solve papers of previous years. This will give you an idea about the mismatch between the

actual paper and your level of preparations. 7. Fill up the gap by extra study 8. Try to take up practice test

a City Bus Ride . . !

The rings of cigarette smoke finding a way through a partly broken window pane to set off from the overoccupied vehicle, turned me green with envy!

When I was finding it barbed to breathe, save apart sitting snugly, there were people itching themselves at awkward places in those ‘tacky’ conditions! The aunties fitted beside, busy discussing the shopping discounts, had overloaded me with half of their shopping bags: / The rickety creature jolted, screeched and shook itself through and finally moved when the last gear was put on, whizzing a goodbye to the hapless ones (actually, lucky ones) who couldn’t board it! I had thought that with the moving of the bus, my problems would be halved, but mathematics failed here, like it never had anywhere. :/ My miseries got ‘doubled’, crushing me further!

Looking around for someone to talk to was terribly useless. There were people vomiting the whole family of tuberculosis vectors onto each other. Thanks to the kerchief covering half of my face, I hardly located a single

specimen who coughed or yawned with a hand on his wide gaping mouth! >< The motion had caused a whole new brand of aroma to congest my lovable nose…just imagine – all cheap brands of flavoured hairoils with

the individual brand of perspiration, being the source! And I could have killed the one who stamped my foot twice exactly at the same place, had I seen the one bulldozing! :/ The springs of those frayed seats had to pop out only then…those alarming cellphone ringtones awakened the zeitgeist of late 90s, those million tonne carry bags I

was sustaining…and the unending chatter that could burst the tiniest vein of your brain…all unforgettable! I cursed myself for having risen late in the morning, and then reaching the bus-stop even later. Returning back home was something like one yearns for a full day lecture on “How to get late?” Finally, this was when I couldn’t flinch; I

had to wait for something I ever hated – a city bus!

And the series of trauma that followed itself made the experience worth penning and sharing!!
