Another year is here and I am wondering how time has flown by so fast! January is usually a slow month; however, this year we have many things happening. We need your help this month collecting bottle caps to be melted into a bench. Our collection will keep going until we have 400lbs. of caps, so get your family involved and let’s get collecting. The ELI field trips start up again this month as we visit the Cleveland History Center formerly known as Western Reserve. In addition we have 3 new friends starting this month that will be Giraffes. Please join me in welcoming Julian, Bryson, and Savannah. We are so glad to have them at KELC! Lastly, we started trying out an app called “Remind”. I know oftentimes papers get lost, emails go unchecked, and information on the door board is forgotten, so we are trialing this to see if you find it helpful. We look forward to your feedback on this new form of communication. Happy New Year! Learning to Recycle

We are starting to collect bottle caps/lids to be melted into a

bench for the children to use alongside the “little library” that

was donated to us from The Stocker Foundation. A letter was

sent home in December regarding this, and we have attached a

list of acceptable lids.

As you collect your lids at home,

bring them in to KELC and we

will have a bucket to fill. Here

is a picture of what our bench

will look like after we collect

400lbs. of caps!

From the KELC Teachers:

From the Classroom:

The holiday season is always such a busy time. Even though I enjoy it immensely, I am always a little relieved when it is over

and we can get back to our normal routine. So many of our friends traveled this year all over the United States, and to Israel,

Mexico, and Japan. We look forward to everyone coming back and sharing stories of their holidays. Soon we will have a

show-and-share day where the children can bring in one of their favorite gifts to show their friends and share during play time.

Thank you so much to all the parents and families that came to our holiday program, shared traditions in the classroom, and

wished us well! Not only do the children learn from us, but also we learn so much from them and their families.

This month we will be studying recycling. If you would like to bring in some interesting “clean” recyclable items it would be

appreciated. We will be using them for many activities, including collages, sculptures, sorting, measuring, and discussing.
