A package tour is a prearrangedtour, planned for an individual,or a group, which can include allthe travel related services likeairfare, car rental, lodging, andother activities.

It can be considered as a holiday or a tour forwhich one pays at a fixed price that includestravel, accommodation, meals, etc. arrangedby a travel agent.

Why a Package Tour??

The chief reason what necessitated the use of atour package made by the operators is the hasslefree dealings. If a person does not buy a tourpackage and instead tries to buy Individual travelservices from different service providers, he willland up paying more.

A tour package gives the tourist the ease ofvisiting a destination with all the services inone single packet so that the passenger doesnot have to undergo the job of searching,booking and confirming individual serviceswith the individual service providers.

A tour package is generally made and soldcomprising of certain services as the inclusionsand there are few elements, which thoughrequired by most of the tourists, are excludedfrom the package and thus, these exclusionsare not a part of the total price which acustomer pays to the service providers.

• Travel Element: It is the mode of transportused to reach the destination from the point of

origin.

Accommodation-The other important elementwithout which a tour package can not be madeis the accommodation that specifies the kindof hotel and the room offered in the packageas per the occupancy i.e. a Single, double, twinor a triple sharing.

• Meals:- The food element constitutes amajor part of the tour package which isprovided along with the hotel packageitself. Although the room packages can besold without meals also, most of the timesthe passengers like to have only thebreakfast included in the package.However, in some cases the dinner is alsoincluded.

• Internal transportation-The mode of transportused by the passenger totravel within or aroundthe destination for thepurposes of sightseeing,excursions and thetransfers from one placeto the other is alsoincluded in a tourpackage most often thannot.
