In connection with last year’s project “My Ideal Town” we have decided to renew the local wood, adding new structures made with recycled materials and make a better area for free time.The project has been developed in three steps: •A reduced scale model (1:100) of a green area for free time: a wood with a playground, pic-nic area and relax zones•Tour of the wood guided by us students during the spring FAI event (Italian Fund for the Environment)•Production of the models of the street furniture with recycled materials, such as cardboard and tires.

In Camerano there is a wood which we would like to transform in a Free Time Green Area for our Ideal Town.

We have made a model ...To realize the base of the model, wehave used styrofoam and shaped it in various sizes, then wehave glued them together.

We have made papier mache, then we have covered the plastic with that material; subsequently we have painted it brown with some shades of green colour.

We have covered one side of the hill with trees made of small pieces of green sponge for the foliage and brown toothpicks for the trunk, pasting them together with hot glue.

We have also used toothsticks to create the various fences and some little white stones for the path.

We have enrichedour Erasmus project with the “F.A.IGiovani” project, becoming mini-guides of the local Mancinforte’s wood which, in our scale model we have improved.

The Mancinforte’s wood is a high forest mixed of Hardwood sawmills with plants like holm, maple, and manna ash.
Nowadays the wood is included in the Conero Natural Park.

Our groups were made of about 25 people, we guided them into thewood and our visit was now and then interrupted by some shortextemporaneus little scenes played by our friends, based on historical
legends.

• Laurel: (Laurus nobilis) An evergreen perennial plant.
Our friends acted a little scene about the laurel legend(Daphne and Apollo)

• Hippocastanum chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum): the margin of the leaves is doubly serrated, the central vein is well marked. The fruits, chestnuts, are large thorny capsules. . Here, we had another little scene aboutHippocastanum.

• Italian maple: (Acer opalusobtusatum): 20 mt high
Very simple wavy leaves.The fruitsare samare. Here, we had anotherlittle scene about maples.
• Acanthus leaves (Acanthus mollis):
A herbaceous native plant from Greece. This plantis very important in the Greek architecture, in the Corinthian capital.

• Holm oak: (Quercus ilex) An evergreen tree very common in our wood. Many of these holms are secular, they are more than150-than150-200 years old.

• Downy oak: (Quercus pubescens) Thisspecies of oak is very common in Italy. The foliage is wide and the leaves are decidous, they remain attached to the branches allwinter. Here we have performed our last littlescene about downy.
We have really enjoyed partecipating to this project, as wemet new people from other regions, and we noticed thatpeople really appreciated our performance.We hope to participate again next year!

For the Erasmus project we have alsostudied energy sustainability and renewableresources so we have created some more products reusing and adapting cartboardpaper.
To preserve the earth’s resources so wehave to:
-avoid the exhausting of natural resources.
-reduce the production of litter (by usingrecycled materials).

Our classes were divided into groups and we realized differentitems with recycled cardboard paper to build exhibitors, some chairs and a desk by using glue, sellotape and box cutters.
